I'm not totally certain on how to answer this question, though I'm sure the answer is not Iran or Russia.

Non-state actors probably is the right answer, though it feels like a cop-out for some reason. I went with China though due to their substantial potential to threaten our interests.

In terms of power and ability to beat us? Or in terms of how opposed they are to us?

First: Russia or China, tilt Russia
Latter: North Korea, followed by Iran

1. Russia
2. China
3. North Korea
4. Saudi Arabia
5. Iran
6. Pakistan

Definitely China. Russia comes second, Iran is third and Saudi Arabia fourth. The rest are not close.

Trump is America's greatest geopolitical foe.

-You have to specify a country.

Iran is clearly the biggest geopolitical threat to not only Murica but the world as well (Eharding saying its not doesn't make him right).

China is #2, Russia #3 (though, my views on how to handle it are vastly different from how the establishment wants to deal with it. Aka i dont want WW3).

-Iran does fund insurgencies, but doesn't seem to do much else. Hard to see it as foe #1.

Gotta look at economics, too, though. If Iran wins out over the Saudis in the oil markets we will see a drastic transfer of power in the world.

Iran is a threat, but not a huge one. How can it be such a huge threat, if it's at best a Middle Eastern power? Without Russia, they would be a failing country today.

Not sure you worded this properly. Which country is the most formidable rival, and which is the most threatening/anti american are two diffident questions. For the former China, For the latter Iran.

China. Their economy is much stronger than Russia's. Russia has nothing except fossil fuels and a-bombs.

China, quite definitively, just because they're the strongest party likely to potentially escalate into a hot war with the US.

Russia is powerful and dangerous, but wants to avoid a hot war. Iran could very well want a hot war at some point, same as North Korea, but they would be destroyed in days if they tried.
