The 1912 election began with President Folk decided to run for reelection. In his 4 years he passed strict child labor laws which banned children from being employed before they turn 15, passed anti corruption laws , helped increase the power for unions ,and broke up Standard Oil and many other trusts and tightened up anti laws. On forign policy he granted the Phillapineses there Independence with a guarantee to protect it from European and Japanese powers. He also reduced the size of the military which he believes should not be used until war time. Folk is running on continuing his policies for the next 4 years and promises to push to enact an income tax and minimum wage laws.  .

Senator Joseph Baily the states rights democratic senator decided to challenge folk for the nomination calling Folk is acting like a king and promises to return those powers back to the states.


On the Republican side Teddy Roosevelt while praising a lot of Folk domestic agenda is outraged at his foreign policy. He says Folk foreign policy will undermine this country and promises to make America a world power in his next term. He lastly attacked Folk's union policy saying Folk is also corrupt in that he puts union interests above the people's interests and promises to always push the people's interest if elected.

Vice President Fairbanks is running on a conservative platform of getting the fed gov out of hands of business alleging that the constitution has been shredded over the last 4 years. He also is attacking Folk push for income tax and accuses folk of wanting to tax ordinary Americans but will refuse to raise tariffs on foreign goods, and promises to make sure the Income tax never passes. He has also attacked TR for leading us to this point with his square deal.

The last candidate is running is John Rockerfeller who has been outraged by Folk's anti trust laws. He calls them anti business , socialist , and a threat to american business . He promises to repeal all those laws when he becomes office and promises to Make American Business Great Again.


Entering the election the House is controlled by the Democrats with a 201-190 margin and the Senate is controlled by the Republicans with a 48-44 margin.

Joesph folk has been renominated by the Democratic Party along with Vice President John Burke while the Republican Party nominated Former Presidnet Theodore Roosevelt to be Thier nominee along with former secretary of war william Howard Taft being nominated as his Vice President
