Barack Obama is hyped.  Again, another "winning" Democratic strategy!  Obama is looks lilke Osama...I can see the commercials.  The "b" morphs into an "s"...Max Cleland all over again!  I'd vote for Obama and think he'd be a so-so President, but he couldn't win...sorry.

serious question:  could obama seriously challenge some southern states (arkansas, virginia)?

id imagine hed grab over 95% of the black vote, and he *may* get some apathetic minorities to the polls.

I think in this day and age, it's impossible for the black vote to be that monolithic (especially with someone like Graham).  We must also consider that for every one apathetic minority that votes in Alabama, you'll probably have three whites that vote for the Republican.  In 20 years, I'd say Virginia, but never Arkansas.

But what if Graham is gay? And in any case he's unmarried.

Lindsay Graham would lose significant votes to third party -- he *seriously* pissed off the Base with that "Gang o' 12" ridiculousness

I don't think you would like Lindsey Graham too much, Walter. I think he's fairly protectionist, for one.

I kind of like Linsday Graham.  I think he would do very well, but against Obama it would most certainly be close.

Graham/Daniels                330
Obama/Spitzer                  208

I believe Obama is over rated as a potential Presidential candidate.  Spitzer would be a solid VP choice, but should probably be at the top of the ticket.  He will probably be elected Governor of New York in 2006.

I do not believe Graham is gay, and he would certainly have to talk his way out of his "Gang of 12" lunacy.  He may have ticked off some of the GOP base with this stupid display of theatrics, however, Obama and Spitzer are so liberal, there is no way these voters would be supporting them, and the base would be back in the GOP fold for the election.  Daniels is credible VP material, and would not hurt the ticket.

Interesting that someone who has Chafee in their sig would remotley like someone as conservative as Demint-

Obama said yesterday that he is not running for office in 2008.

i was supporting tom ravenel in the sc primary of 04.  he was the true free market candidate, as far as i could tell.

demint's capitalist credentials are stellar also.  i know he is probably a social intolerant, but i dont concern myself with those issues/

Splitzer is a definite star in the making! Blanche Lincoln has alot fo potential also. Keep an eye on Kathleen Sebelius.

On the Republican side it will be interesting to see what Jodi Rell does in the future. And will Olympia Snowe or Lindsay Graham have the courage to make a run for President.

Despite that Graham would be a reasonably strong candidate, Obama still wins.
