CNN RELEASES 1ST SENATE BATTLEGROUND MAP FOR 2022

SOLID REPUBLICAN (13 Seats)
LEAN REPUBLICAN (6 Seats)
TOSS UP (6 Seats)
LEAN DEMOCRAT (2 Seats)
SOLID DEMOCRAT (8 Seats)

Alabama
Incumbent Republican Senator Richard Shelby (Age 87) has not yet publicly said if he seeks another Term. Possible Republican Replacements could be former AL Attorney General Luther Strange as well as Rep. Martha Roby & Rep. Mo Brooks.
CNN currently rates this Seat as SOLID REPUBLICAN.

Alaska
Incumbent Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski (64) is expected to seek a 4th Term in the United States Senate.
CNN RATING: SOLID REPUBLICAN.

Arizona
Incumbent Republican Senator Martha McSally was elected in a Special Election in November 2021 to fill the vacant Seat of the late Senator John McCain with 55% of the Vote. Democrats immediatedly made Arizona as one of their Prime Targets for the 2022 MidTerm Cycle.
CNN RATING: TOSS-UP

Arkansas
Incumbent Republican Senator John Boozman (Age 71) has not yet publicly said if he seeks another Term. Many Operatives in the State though expect him to seek a 3rd Term.
CNN RATING: SOLID REPUBLICAN.

California
Incumbent Democrat Kamala Harris is expected to seek a 2nd Term in this deep blue State. Since her Election in 2016 she has already raised nearly 30 Million $ and camaigned for fellow Democrats around the Country noticeably the Virginia Governor Race promting speculation that she will launch a bid for the Presidency in 2024. Harris is known for bucking the more liberal wing of her Party. Despite concerns from Senators Warren and Sanders she help craft the "Opportunity Act" with Republican Senator Jeff Flake of Arizona to overhaul the Nations Immigration System. CNN RATING: SOLID DEMOCRAT

Colorado
Incumbent Republican Senator Darryl Glenn announced on October 15th 2021 that he will seek a 2nd Term in November. Possible Democratic Opponents include Reps. Jared Polis, Diane DeGette and Ed Perlmutter. The Democrats view this Race as one of their best Pick Up Opportunities.
CNN RATING: TOSS UP

Connecticut
Incumbent Democrat Richard Blumenthal (Age 75) has not yet publicly said if he seeks another Term. Democrats though have a very deep bench in case Blumenthal decides to retire. Operatives in the State don't expect the Race to be competitive in a 6-year itch MidTerm. CNN RATING: SOLID DEMOCRAT

Florida
Incumbent Republican Senator Carlos Lopez-Cantera is seeking a 2nd Term this November. The potential Democratic candidates include, notably, Stephanie Miller and Darren Soto. That being said Democrats face an uphill climb in this State as it is the President's Home State.
CNN RATING: LEAN REPUBLICAN

Georgia
Incumbent Republican Senator Johnny Isakson (Age 77) has not yet publicly said if he seeks another Term. Isakson was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 2015. Despite that he overwhelmingly won Re-Election to a 3rd Term in 2016. His possible Democratic Challengers could be '14 Nominee Michelle Nunn, '14 Governor Nominee Jason Carter and State Senator Stacey Abrams. In case Isakson decides to retire this Race could become competitive very quick. For now Republicans seem to have the edge here.
CNN RATING: LEAN REPUBLICAN

Hawaii
Incumbent Democrat Brian Schatz is expected to seek a 2nd Full 6-Year Term in the Senate. Schatz was appointed by then Governor Neil Abercrombie after the passing of Senator Daniel Inouye. Schatz subsequently won a Special Election in 2014 and his 1st Full 6-Year Senate Term in 2016.
CNN RATING: SOLID DEMOCRAT

Idaho
Incumbent Republican Senator Mike Crapo is expected to seek a fifth and Final Term in the Senate after being elected 1998 to succeed then Senator Dirk Kempthorne who succesfully ran for Governor. Crapo won Relection in 2004, 2010 and 2016.
CNN RATING: SOLID REPUBLICAN

Illinois
Incumbent Republican Senator Mark Kirk is seeking a 3rd Term in the Senate. The former FLOTUS Michelle Obama as well as former Chicago Mayor Rahm Emmanuel have thrown their hats into this Race and will run against each other in the Democratic Primary. Kirk is considered the single most vulnerable GOP Senator for the 2022 Election Cycle after moving too far to the right when Republicans obtained their Filibuster-proof Supermajority in 2018. A WGN/Chicago Tribune Poll in September showed Kirk down 20-Percentage Points to the former First Lady.
Candidate Filling Deadline: 29th November 2021
State Primary: 15th March 2022
CNN RATING: LEAN DEMOCRAT

Indiana
Incumbent Republican Senator Todd Young is expected to seek a 2nd Term. Thus far no serious Democratic Challenger has emerged.
CNN RATING: SOLID REPUBLICAN

Iowa (OPEN SEAT, Longterm Senator Chuck Grassley is retiring)
In late June the Dean of Iowa Politics, Senator Charles "Chuck" Grassley announceed his Retirement at the end of his current Term. One week later Iowa State Representative Pat Grassley, son of Chuck Grassley announced he would run to replace his grandfather in the Senate. Possible Democratic Challengers could be State Representative Abby Finkenauer and Rep. Dave Loebsack.
CNN RATING: LEAN REPUBLICAN

Kansas
Incumbent Republican Senator Jerry Moran will seek a 3rd Term in the Senate. He'll likely face only nominal Opposition.
CNN RATING: SOLID REPUBLICAN

Kentucky
Incumbent Republican Senator Rand Paul is seeking a 3rd Term in the Senate. For now Republicans seem on solid footing here. That might change though. Democrats like Attorney General Andy Beshear & Secretary of State Allison Lundergan Grimes must decide whether to run for Senate against Paul or for the Open Governor Seat in 2023.
CNN RATING: SOLID REPUBLICAN

Louisiana
Incumbent Republican Senator John Kennedy is seeking a 2nd Term in the Senate. The big Question: Will Incumbent Democrat Governor John Bel Edwards run for Senate or does he decide to run in a crowded Field for the Presidency 2024? Edwards is term-limited so he can't run for Re-Election as Governor. If Edwards runs this Race instantly becomes a TOSS UP, if he doesn't it stays Solid Republican.
CNN RATING: SOLID REPUBLICAN

Maryland
Incument Democrat & DSCC Chair Chris Van Hollen is seeking a 2nd Term in the Senate. He'll likely face only nominal Opposition in this very deep blue State.
CNN RATING: SOLID DEMOCRAT

Missouri
Incumbent Republican Senator Roy Blunt is seeking a 3rd Term in the Senate. This Race along with Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, Pennsylvania and New Hampshire is viewed by Democrats as one of their big Pick Up Opportunities. Possible Democratic Challengers include former Secretary of State Jason Kander who lost to Blunt in 2016 as well as '16 Governor Nominee Chris Koster.
CNN RATING: TOSS-UP

Nevada
On August 4th Incument Republican Senator Joe Heck announced during a Rally in Las Vegas that he would seek a 2nd Term in the Senate. Democrats have a strong bench here that includes '16 Nominee Catherine Cortez-Masto who lost to Heck by a nose, '18 Nominee Jacky Rosen and former NV Secretary of State Ross Miller.
CNN RATING: TOSS UP

New Hampshire
Incumbent Republican Senator Kelly Ayotte is seeking a 3rd Term in the Senate. It's likely that she faces strong Opposition: Former NH Governor '16 Senate Nominee Maggie Hassan is looking at the Race again as well as '16 Governor Nominee Colin Van Ostern and Rep. Ann McLane Kuster.
CNN RATING: TOSS UP

New York
Incumbent Democrat & Senate Minority Leader Charles E. "Chuck" Schumer will seek a 5th Term in the Senate. He'll face only nominal opposition.
CNN RATING: SOLID DEMOCRAT

North Carolina (OPEN SEAT, Longterm Senator Richard Burr is retiring)
Longtime Republican Incumbent Senator Richard Burr announced at the End of June that he wouldn't seek Re-Election for a 4th Term. On July 1st former North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory announced his own Senate Run to replace Burr and therefore became the instant Frontrunner for the Republican Nomination. A lot of the Democrats hopes hinges on whether Popular Incumbent Governor Roy Cooper runs for Senate. Cooper overwhelmingly won Re-Election despite President Rubio carrying the State comfortably. Another possible Democratic Challenger is Deborah Ross who lost to Burr in 2016.
CNN RATING: LEAN REPUBLICAN

North Dakota
Incumbent Republican Senator John Hoeven will seek a 2nd Term in the Senate. He'll face only nominal opposition.
CNN RATING: SOLID REPUBLICAN

Ohio
Incumbent Republican Senator Rob Portman will seek a 3rd Term in the Senate. Possible Democratic Challengers include former Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray.
CNN RATING: LEAN REPUBLICAN

Oklahoma
Incumbent Republican Senator James Lankford will seek a 2nd Term in the Senate. Lankford got elected through a Special Election in 2014 when Senator Tom Coburn decided to resign in the middle of his Term. He also comfortably won Election for a Full Term in 2016. He'll likely face only nominal Opposition.
CNN RATING: SOLID REPUBLICAN

Oregon
Incumbent Democrat Ron Wyden will seek a 6th and likely Final Term in the Senate being 73-years old when his new Term would start. Wyden is the Dean of Oregon Politics being first elected in 1996. He'll likely face only nominal Opposition in the Primary & General Elections unless 2018 Republican Gubernatorial nominee decides to run for Senate.
CNN RATING: SOLID DEMOCRAT

Pennsylvania
Incumbent Republican Senator Pat Toomey is seeking a 3rd Term. The Democrats preferred Candidate is Rep. Connor Lamb who won a Special Election before winning Re-Election in 2018 & 2020 in a heavy Republican District. Another potential Challenger could be '16 Nominee Kathy McGinty. At this Point Democrats hopes that popular outgoing Governor Tom Wolf enters the Race seem slim though that could change depending on the National Environment. Wolf has also been mentioned as a possible Contender for the Democratic Presidential Nomination in 2024.
CNN RATING: TOSS UP

South Carolina
Incumbent Republican Senator Tim Scott is seeking a 3rd Term. He will likely cruise to Re-Election.
CNN RATING: SOLID REPUBLICAN

South Dakota
Popular Incumbent Republican Senator John Thune will seek a 4th Term in the Senate. It's unlikely Democrats will field a serious contender.
CNN RATING: SOLID REPUBLICAN

Utah
Incumbent Republican Senator Mia Love will seek a 1st Full 6-year Term in the Senate. Love got appointed to the Senate upon confirmation of Senator Mike Lee to fill the Supreme Court Vacancy when Antoin Scalia passed away early in 2016. Love then won a Special Election in 2018 to serve out the Final 4 years of Lee's Term. She might be subtle to a Primary Challenge but should cruise to Re-Election if she gets passed that in this deep red State.
CNN RATING: SOLID REPUBLICAN

Vermont
Incumbent Democrat Patrick Leahy (Age 81) who is the longest Serving Democrat in the Senate has not yet publicly said if he seeks another Term. His possible Replacement should he retire would likely be At-Large Rep. Peter Welch. Republicans are unlikely to challenge Democrats in this deep blue State.
CNN RATING: SOLID DEMOCRAT

Washington
Popular Incumbent Democrat Patty Murray is seeking a 6th and Final Term in the Senate. For now this Race seems to be a solid Democratic hold. That might change though if Rep. Jamie Herrera-Beutler or. Rep. Cathy McMorris-Rogers enters the Race. Both ran in 2018 against the other Democratic Senator Maria Cantwell with Beutler losing the General Election after advancing from the Open Primary. It's the only Race where Republicans will be able to play some offense this Cycle.
CNN RATING: LEAN DEMOCRAT

Wisconsin (OPEN SEAT, Incumbent Senator Ron Johnson is retiring)
On September 15th 2021 Incumbent Republican Senator Ron Johnson announced his Retirement following a pledge he made during the 2016 Campaign that this would be his Final Term. A week later incumbent Governor Scott Walker announced his own Senate Run to replace Johnson in the Senate. With his Entry he became the instant Frontrunner for the Republican senatorial nomination. The Democratic Field is not yet settled.
CNN RATING: LEAN REPUBLICAN

CNN's Senior Political Analyst John King explains the Map
So, right now we have 6 TOSS UP Seats and 6 LEAN REPUBLICAN Seats and a Republican Seat which 1 LEAN DEMOCRATIC and a Democratic-held Seat which 1 LEAN DEMOCRATIC. Republicans currently own a 69-31 Senate Majority. Our initial Map in August 2021 only included 12 competitive Seats. We added Georgia & Washington to that List.
While Senator Patty Murray is expected to seek Re-Election we don't know what Senator Isakson will do. He is dealing with some Health Issues. If he decides to run for Re-Election this Seat will likely move out of the Democrats reach very quick. If he decides to retire you can expect competitive Primaries on both sides.

In order to blow off the Republican Flilibuster-proof Senate Majority, Democrats would need to win 11 of the 14 competitive Senate Races meaning they would need to hold Illinois (which is a Republican Seat currently leaning their way) and Washington (Which is a Democratic Seat where Republicans maybe able to play some offense), then they would have to sweep the 6 Seats classified as Toss Ups as well as winning 3 of the 6 Seats we've currently as Lean Republican. That would get them to 41 Seats. Is that doable? Possibly not likely unless we have a massive Democratic Wave. The Caveat is how President Rubio's JA will be as well as the Congressional JA as we get closer to the Summer and Autumn of 2022.

George Diller, former NASA TV PA
Good Morning and thanks for having me here on CNN. This obviously as you said Wolf is a big Day for NASA and Space Exloration in General. I'm really glad we got back to this Point after so much uncertainty in the later part of the Obama Presidency. When President Rubio took Office he made a firm Committment to NASA that we would go back to the Moon by the end of his Presidency and this is the 1st Step. As PA you can experience Triumph and Tragedy. When Challenger exploded and Columbia broke up my mouth dropped. Having covered numerous Launches & Landings I know how critical this Part of the Mission is. I can literally see the Launches from my home just south of Merritt Island and I still enjoy & watch it. I'm sure the next Guests & Specialists can tell you excatly what will happen today as this new SLS (Space Launch System) will be very complex.

December 3 :

-The military training of the the Afghan mountain brigade in the Wakhan Corridor by the U.S., India and China in order to ensure the success of the transition of Afghanistan's security to the Afghan Army after the withdrawal of NATO troops is completed.

December 4 :
-NATO announces the completion of its mission in Afghanistan and the withdrawal of its local troops. The U.S. troops are scheduled to be back home by the end of December.

December 5 :

-President Rubio gives a speech honoring the courage of all of the U.S. troops and allied troops who served and/or died in Afghanistan in defense of freedom, democracy, justice and security. He praises the effects of the end of the War in Afghanistan that not only ended the longest war in which the United States were involved in their history (even longer than the Vietnam War as the War in Afghanistan lasted 20 years), restored peace, stability and justice in Afghanistan and made America safer but will also allow the United States and their allies to focus all of their attention on Syria, which will accelerate their path to victory against ISIS there by staying on offense against them, striking them with our military power, rebuilding Syria and training the Syrian armed forces to ensure their full readiness to handle Syria's security.

December 7 :

-President Rubio and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe meet each other in Honolulu, Hawaii for the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. Both leaders declare that despite their two countries' past rivalry during World War II, this is a totally different time and that the most important is what unites the two nations as allies and friends. President Rubio and Prime Minister Abe praised each other's countries' efforts in reinforcing economic partnerships by joining the TPP, which reinforced their trade relations and prosperity in these two nations, and in reinforcing their defense relations through a reinforcement of their military exercises in the Pacific, through Japan's remilitarization after the 2018 referendum that modified Japan's 9th constitutional amendment, through a reinforcement of the sanctions against North Korea and through the creation of the US-Japanese Cybersecurity Unit to counter North Korean cyber-attacks, which ensured the respect of territorial integrity in the South China Sea, increased pressure on North Korea and got the world to the denuclearization of North Korea, thus reinforcing global peace and security. Both leaders declared themselves ready to work together to do even more for the sake of prosperity, stability and security around the Pacific by fighting the terrorist organization of Abu Sayyaf in Malaysia and in the Philippines.

December 9 :

-The construction of the Trans-South pipeline is completed, which will transport oil from Oklahoma to Louisiana while passing through Texas.

December 10 :
-According to a new jobs report, 164 000 new jobs were created in November.

December 13 :

-The multi-purpose crew vehicle ORION engaged into Exploration Mission-1 has landed on the Moon, thus making a great step into sending Americans on the Moon for the first time since 50 years and in relaunching American space exploration.

December 14 :

-North Korea has completed the dismantle of the Yongbyon Nuclear Scientific Research Center. In response, President Rubio applauded Pyongyang's actions, calling it a great move for the sake of peace, stability and security.

December 15 :

-Near Hajin, Syria, the U.S. troops conducted a military operation during which they took control of an ISIS staging area. While losing 6 soldiers, they killed 50 jihadists during the operation.

Marco Rubio's Presidency
December 2021, Part 2

December 16 :

-Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers announced during a rally in Seattle that she's running against Patty Murray in 2022, which could complicate Democrats' efforts that year by putting more Democratic seats in defense.

December 19 :

-All of the NATO troops in Afghanistan have returned home in their respective countries and retrieved their families, thus officially putting an end to the War in Afghanistan. President Rubio greets the U.S. troops at Jacksonville Naval Air Station in Florida and honors their service, patriotism and courage that contributed to the NATO coalition's victory over terrorism and to freedom's and justice's triumph over opression and terror.

December 20 :

-Department of Energy announces $46 million to improve resiliency of solar generation.

December 22 :

-In the context of the War in Syria, President Rubio and Vice-President Haley meet with their National Security Council at the Situation Room in the White House to discuss a plan of drone sales to Syria in order to help them to secure Syria's south-western borders with Israel to stop any potential attempt by the Sheikh Omar Hadid Brigade to provide weapons or any sources of supply to ISIS in Syria.

December 25 :

-President Rubio, his family and his Cabinet celebrate Christmas at the White House.

December 27 :

-Twenty-two women entrepreneurs from 13 African countries arrive in the United States to connect with their American counterparts and accelerate the growth of their businesses. The businesswomen in this year’s African Women’s Entrepreneurship Program (AWEP) join a network that has created thousands of jobs and over 20 women’s business associations in sub-Saharan Africa. The initiative promotes business growth and increases trade both regionally and with U.S. markets through the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), thus further reinforcing economic relations between the United States and Africa.

December 29 :

-Near Abu Kamal, coalition military forces conducted four strikes consisting of six engagements against ISIS targets, destroying five ISIS vehicles.

CNN RELEASES 1ST GOVERNOR BATTLEGROUND MAP FOR 2022

SOLID REPUBLICAN (12 Seats)
LEAN REPUBLICAN (5 Seats)
TOSS UP (13 Seats)
LEAN DEMOCRAT (3 Seat)
SOLID DEMOCRAT (3 Seats)

Alabama
Incumbent Republican Govenor Kay Ivey is seeking a 2nd Term in Office. Ivey became Governor of Alabama when Governor Robert J. Bentley was forced to resign after pleading to two misdemeanor charges related to campaign finance law in April 2017. Ivey then won Election in her own right in 2018. No serious Republican or Democratic Challenger has emerged thus far.
CNN RATING: SOLID REPUBLICAN.

Alaska
Incumbent Republican Governor Mike Dunleavy is seeking a 2nd Term in Office after winning a 3-way battle with Incumbent Independent Governor Bill Walker and Democrat Mark Begich in 2018.
CNN RATING: SOLID REPUBLICAN.

Arizona (OPEN SEAT, Governor Doug Ducey [R] is term-limited)
Incumbent Republican Governor Doug Ducey is barred from seeking a 3rd Term under Arizona State Law after being elected in 2014 and re-elected in 2018. The most likely Republican to succeed him is AZ Attorney General Mark Brnovich who lost the GOP Special Election Primary to now-Senator Martha McSally. It's unclear if he receives a Primary Challenge. A possible Democratic Challenger could be Steve Farley who lost the Democratic Primary for Governor in 2018 to David Garcia who then went on to lose to Ducey.
CNN RATING: TOSS UP

Arkansas (OPEN SEAT, Governor Asa Hutchinson [R] is term-limited)
Incumbent Republican Governor Asa Hutchinson is barred from seeking a 3rd Term under Arkansas State Law after being elected in 2014 and re-elected in 2018. His likely Successor could be fmr. Rep. & current Lt. Governor Tim Griffin. Thus far the Democratic Field hasn't settled yet.
CNN RATING: SOLID REPUBLICAN.

California
Incumbent Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom will seek Re-Election to a 2nd Term in Office in the largest State of the Country. Newsom won the Democratic Primary over former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa in 2018 and then went on to win the General Election over Republican John Cox by a modest margin. At this Point it's unclar if Republicans will put up a serious Challenge to Newsom. Commerce Secretary Meg Whitman who unsuccessfully ran for Governor in 2010 has been mentioned as a potential Republican Challenger.
CNN RATING: SOLID DEMOCRAT

Colorado
Incumbent Republican Governor Walker Stapleton will seek a 2nd Term as Governor of Colorado. Stapleton is the 1st GOP Governor since Bill Owens left the Governor Mansion in 2006. The Democratic Governors Association (DGA) has made Colorado as one of their Prime Targets in the West along with New Mexico and Arizona. At this Point it's unclear who will take on Stapleton as most of his potential Democratic Challengers have been linked to take on Republican Senator Darryl Glenn.
CNN RATING: TOSS UP

Connecticut
Incumbent Republican Governor Tony Hwang will seek a 2nd Term as Governor. Hwang emerged from a contentious Republican Primary in 2018 and then went on to beat unpopular Democratic Governor Dannell Malloy 51-48 in the General Election. He starts his Re-Election just like in 2018 as slight Underdog in this deep blue State. 2006 Senate Nominee Ned Lamont, former CT Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz have been mentioned as Democratic Challengers. Given that Democrats are highly unlikely to win the House back Rep. Jim Himes & Joe Courtney might try as well.
CNN RATING: TOSS UP

Florida
Incumbent Republican Governor Adam Putnam will seek a 2nd Term in Office. He starts with the Advantage as Major Democrats have been resistant to pull the trigger as Florida has been President Rubio's Home State and his JA in the State has been in the high 50ties. Putnam has been one of the most vocal allies in the Country of President Rubio.
CNN RATING: LEAN REPUBLICAN

Georgia
Incumbent Republican Governor Brian Kemp will run for Re-Election. Kemp emerged from a contentious Primary in 2018 and then went on to beat Lt. Governor Casey Cagle in the Runoff. Due to the strong National Political Environment that year he cruised through the General Election. Democrats are expected to mount a more serious Challenge this time though. For now Kemp seems to have an edge in this Race.
CNN RATING: LEAN REPUBLICAN

Hawaii (OPEN SEAT, Governor David Ige [D] is term-limited)
Incumbent Democrat David Ige is barred from seeking another Term. This Race is likely to be decided in the Democratic Primary. Former Rep. Colleen Hanabusa who challenged Ige in 2018 as well as 2020 Presidential Candidate Tulsi Gabbard have been mentioned as Democratic Candidates. Republicans are unlikely to mount a serious Challenge for this Race.
CNN RATING: SOLID DEMOCRAT

Idaho
Incumbent Republican Governor Butch Otter has not yet publicly said if he will seek another Term. Idaho is one of the few States who doesn't have Term Limits. If Otter decides to retire Republicans will likely have a contentious Primary with Lt. Governor Brad Little being the Frontrunner to replace Otter. It's unlikely that Democrats will field a serious Candidate in this deep red State.
CNN RATING: SOLID REPUBLICAN.

Illinois
Incumbent Democrat Chris Kennedy will seek a 2nd Term in Office. Although President Rubio carried the State in the 2020 Presidential Election by the slimmest of margins this State seems to be tough for Republicans and it's unclear if they can make this competitive. Republican Rep. Peter Roskam has been mentioned as possible Challenger with the House being assured to stay in Republican hands. Kennedy though starts with the Advantage here.
CNN RATING: LEAN DEMOCRAT

Iowa (OPEN SEAT, Governor Terry Branstad [R] to retire)
Incumbent Republican Governor Terry Branstad (already the longest serving Governor in the Nation) has indicated that he won't seek Re-Election in 2022. His most likely Successor will be Lieutnant Governor Kim Reynolds who just announced a gubernatorial bid. It's unclear if she receives a primary challenge from Rep. Steve King. Democrats are likely to field a strong Challenge here. The Race will start as a Toss Up.
CNN RATING: TOSS UP

Kansas
Incumbent Republican Governor Jeff Colyer will seek a 2nd Term in Office. Colyer emerged from a contentious Republican Primary in 2018 defeating Secretary of State Kris Kobach by less than half of a Percentage Point. He went on to win the General Election over Democrat Laura Kelly and Independent Candidate Greg Orman. It looks like he will have a much easier ride this time as no serious Challenger has emerged.
CNN RATING: SOLID REPUBLICAN.

Maryland (OPEN SEAT, Governor Larry Hogan [R] is term-limited)
Incumbent Republican Governor Larry Hogan is barred to seek a 3rd Term because of Term-Limits. Hogan has been mentioned as possibly Republican Presidential Contender for the 2024 Republican Nomination. This Race seems to be a Prime Pick-Up Opportunity for the Democrats. Bernie Sanders carried the State 58-42 in last years Presidential Election. The most likely Candidate on the Republican Side is Lieutnant Governor Boyd Rutherford. He though might receive a Primary Challenge from Rep. Andy Harris. On the Democratic Side the Primary could get very crowded as many Representatives of the Democratic Congressional Delegation looking at the Race including former Lt. Governor Anthony Brown and Rep. John Sarbanes.
CNN RATING: TOSS UP

Massachusetts (OPEN SEAT, Governor Charlie Baker [R] is term-limited)
Incumbent Republican Governor Charlie Baker cannot run for Re-Election because of Term-Limits. Maine
Incumbent Democrat Janet Mills will seek a 2nd Term as Governor in Maine. That State was one of the very few bright spots Democrats had in their horrendous 2018 MidTerm Year. Mills emerged from a contentious Democratic Primary and then went on to beat her scandal-plagued Republican Opponent Shawn Moody. The RGA's preferred Candidate is Rep. Bruce Polliquin.
CNN RATING: TOSS UP

Michigan
Incumbent Republican Governor Bill Schuette will seek a 2nd Term in Michigan. Schuette beat Lt. Governor Brian Calley in the Republican Primary in 2018 and then went on to defeat his Democratic Opponent, former State Senator Gretchen Whitmer by a mere 50-49 margin. The closeness of the Vote triggered an Automatic Recount and Democrats were not happy how Schuette and then-Governor Rick Snyder handled it. D-Activists in the State even contemplated to "Recall" Schuette. The new Chair of the DGA John Carney of Delaware already fired shots at the Michigan Governor by saying he was an "Accidential Governor" and in 2022 "We will put Bill Schuette out of Office". Whitmer is being pushed to run again.
CNN RATING: TOSS UP

Minnesota
Incumbent Republican Governor Jeff Johnson will seek a 2nd Term as Governor of Minnesota. Tim Walz to run against him.
CNN RATING: TOSS UP

It's unlikely the Democrats will put up a serious Candidate in this deep red State.
CNN RATING: SOLID REPUBLICAN.

New Mexico
Incumbent Republican Governor John Sanchez will seek a 2nd Term as Governor of New Mexico. Sanchez rode on the coattails of now-Senator Susana Martinez in the 2018 MidTerm Elections defeating Michelle Lujan-Grisham 51-47 in an upset. CNN RATING: SOLID DEMOCRAT

Ohio
Incumbent Republican Governor Mary Taylor will seek a 2nd Term as Governor in the Buckeye State. Taylor has been mentioned as a possible VP Nominee on the Republican Ticket in 2024. Being from a State Republicans must carry to retain the WH helps making that case. Although Democrats haven't settled on a Candidate yet both Parties expect this Race to be very close, nasty and competitive.
CNN RATING: TOSS UP

Oklahoma
Incumbent Republican Governor Kevin Stitt will seek a 2nd Term in the Sooner State. He'll face only nominal Opposition in the Primary & General Election.
CNN RATING: SOLID REPUBLICAN.

Oregon (OPEN SEAT, Governor Kate Brown [D] is term-limited)
Incumbent Democrat Kate Brown is barred from seeking a 3rd Term. Brown got appointed as Governor of Oregon when scandal-plagued Governor John Kitzhaber was forced to resign in 2015. She then won a Special Election in 2016 and a regular Election in 2018. Oregon was one of the few bright spots Democrats had in that year. It's one of the few Races where Republicans can play some offense. '18 Nominee Knute Buehler is looking at the Race again but it remains to be seen how much he can make this competitive in a 6-year MidTerm. The Democrats haven't settled on a Candidate yet.
CNN RATING: LEAN DEMOCRAT

Pennsylvania (OPEN SEAT, Governor Tom Wolf [D] is term-limited)

Like in Ohio this Race will be very competitive.
CNN RATING: TOSS UP

Rhode Island (OPEN SEAT, Governor Gina Raimondo [D] is term-limited)

Both Primaries and the General Election should be competitive here although this Race could heavily hinge on the National Political Environment. What's noticeable here: Raimondo is currently the lone Democratic Governor in New England.
CNN RATING: LEAN DEMOCRAT

South Carolina
Incumbent Republican Governor Henry McMaster will seek a 2nd Term as Governor of South Carolina. McMaster ascended to the Governors Mansion upon on Nikki Haley becoming the Vice-President of the United States after the 2016 Presidential Election. He then won Election in his own right in 2018.

CNN RATING: SOLID REPUBLICAN.

Tennessee
Incumbent Republican Governor Diane Black will seek a 2nd Term. Black emerged from a close and contentious Republican Primary in 2018 and then went on to win the General Election becoming the 1st Women to occupy the Tennessee Statehouse. At this Point it's unclear if Democrats can mount a serious Challenge here.
CNN RATING: SOLID REPUBLICAN.

Texas
Incumbent Republican Governor Greg Abbott will seek a 3rd Term in the Lone Star State. Abott's Approvals have been high after several Hurricanes hit the Texas coastline over the last few years. No Democratic Challenger has stepped forward thus far.
Filling Deadline: December 6th 2021
Primary: March 8th 2022
CNN RATING: SOLID REPUBLICAN

CNN RATING: LEAN REPUBLICAN

Wyoming

CNN RATING: SOLID REPUBLICAN

Wisconsin (OPEN SEAT, Governor Scott Walker [R] running for Senate)
The Retirement of Senator Ron Johnson triggered a "Domino Effect" among Republicans in the Badger State. Incumbent Governor Scott Walker announced at the end of September that he would run to replace him. Four Days later White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus made his intentions clear that he would run to replace Walker as Governor although he hasn't made an Official Campaign Announcement. That will likely come in the new year. President Rubio is expected to be at that Rally. It remains to be seen how Priebus fares as a Candidate in a Statewide Race. Some of the more popular Democratic Representatives in the Democratic Congressional Delegation are looking at this Race. Until some Candidates emerge this Race stays at "Lean Republican".

-President Rubio announces a plan to advance American sovereignty in the Chuckchi Sea located in the north of both Alaska and Siberia (which explains the competition of territorial claims there between the United States and Russia) in order to exploit local oil and gas resources, to counter Vladimir Putin's Russia's expansionist threat in the Arctic and to reinforce security and stability in the region. President Rubio declares that this plan can be accomplished through investments in the Chuckchi Sea, through a deployment of additional icebreakers and warships to secure the region, through approvals to oil companies to exploit these resources and through military agreements with other Arctic countries to ensure a protected and secure region.

January 7 :

In the context of Arctic sovereignty, they both agreed to develop a military agreement between their two countries in the Arctic region due to their common interest to deter Russia from threatening the Arctic's territorial integrity and also due to their common goals to exploit the Arctic region's natural resources (especially oil resources in the Chuckchi Sea coveted by the United States and the mineral resources in the Mackenzie Delta coveted by Canada) and agreed to discuss it with other Arctic countries at the next Arctic Council in 2023.

January 10 :

-President Rubio hosts Indian President Ram Nath Kovind at the White House where they discussed issues such as trade, energy, democracy, human rights and counter-terrorism. Both leaders praised each other's countries' military efforts that have led to the international counter-terrorist coalition's victory over radical Islamic terrorism in Afghanistan, to the end of the War in Afghanistan and to the restoration of peace in the region in addition of honoring the memory of both countries' soldiers who died in Afghanistan in defense of freedom, democracy, justice and security. During a joint bilateral press conference at the White House, the U.S. President and his Indian counterpart announced a plan  to further increase military exercises as well as arms deals with Malaysia and the Philippines in order to help them to defeat Abu Sayyaf and restore peace and security in the South China Sea.

January 12 :

-Nevada Senator Dean Heller introduces the Security Through Strength Act that would authorize drone sales to Syria aimed at helping this country to reinforce its own military and to secure its south-western borders with Israel to stop any potential attempt by the Sheikh Omar Hadid Brigade to provide weapons or any sources of supply to ISIS in Syria. The Senate will vote on that bill on January 19 and the House of Representatives on January 25.

January 14 :

A gay man from New Jersey revealed that Senator Cory Booker had sexually assaulted him several years back. He had revealed this earlier in October on his twitter but he was convinced to come forward and he had security video evidence of the ordeal. The footage was leaked publicly and it showed that the Senator did sexually assault. the man. Following this, Senator Booker resigned and Governor Murphy placed Lieutenant Governor Sheila Oliver in the seat, declaring a special election to be held during the 2022 midterms.

January 15 :

-In the context of the special congressional election to fulfill Martha McSally's seat in Arizona's 2nd congressional district, Meghan McCain, daughter of John McCain, easily wins the Republican special congressional primary with 69 % of the vote over state representative Todd Clodfelter's 31 %. President Marco Rubio's 5th State of the Union Address

Mr. Speaker, Madam Vice President, Members of Congress, distinguished guests, and fellow Americans : this new year is announced to be another year of hope, optimism, enthusiasm and progress.

By bringing the American people together and by working with both parties, we made strong progress in bringing our budget and our deficit under control and to keep America on the right track to prosperity.

[Applause]

Thanks to our hardwork, we finally accomplished what any administration couldn't have done : introducing and adopting a balanced budget amendment, which brought fiscal responsibility, further reduced our national deficit and will lessen the deficit burden on future generations.

[Applause]

This has become possible thanks to the strong economic growth America is living throughout the last few years marked by the passage of the largest tax cuts in American history that benefited to all the American people, including the middle class, reinforced their purchasing power and their ability to find a good paying job. This progess made last year has become reality thanks to a reduction of wasteful spending, thanks to America's transition to energy independance and energy dominance through taking advantage of all of our sources of energy, thanks to the continuation of our quest for open markets around  the world through the promotion of free trade and thanks to our efforts to make America the best place in the world to start a business through our efforts to lower the fiscal burden of businesses across this nation. As a result, we created a total of 15 million jobs in the last few years and brought our unemployment rate to 2.5 %, the lowest rate in history.

[Applause]

By passing the balanced budget amendment, we transformed an important fraction of our deficit into a surplus. And thus we got the necessary revenues to invest into our future. Thanks to budget balance, we will use a part of future budget surpluses into the development of new infrastructures in this country, which will facilitate our economic activities and ensure the implementation of new businesses here in this country, bringing stronger job creation and a stronger economy through the encouraging free enterprise and small government.

[Applause]

Another part of these budget surpluses provided by budget balance will be used into the development of renewable energies for a clean environmentand for more jobs and higher wages, in education for the sake of the success of all students in America, in health, in the modernization of our military to keep America strong and sage and in the development of new social security and job training programs for our veterans to make sure they will earn the best post-military service they can ever imagine.

[Applause]

That is how we will get our country to full-employment, get our country to permanent prosperity, further improve our social services, further reinforce the American Dream and make sure that America will keep its status as the land where everything is possible for every single American, no matter your race, your beliefs and your origins.

[Applause]

Last year, we made strong progress in relaunching the American space exploration program just as we promised. Last November, we launched Exploration Mission - 1 (an unmanned mission to the Moon with NASA's Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle ORION) and landed on the Moon last month.

[Applause]

And this is our first step to our objective to send our 1st manned Space Flight on ORION called EM-2 in the year 2023. America is now once again the leader in space exploration.

[Applause]

The previous year has been marked by strong progress for international security and peace. This is the first State of the Union Adress since the end of the War in Afghanistan which we managed to win thanks to a stronger and modernized U.S. military and to strong and precious collaboration and contributions of our allies, all efforts that helped us to defeat terrorism in the region. We managed to complete our duty to rebuild Afghanistan and to fully train the Afghan armed forces and thus we transfered the responsibility of the security of their country to our Afghan allies. Our troops did a formidable job and finally retrieved their families. Peace, security and stability has finally been restored in Afghanistan after 20 years of conflict.

[Applause]

Thanks to the end of the War in Afghanistan, we can now focus all of our attention and our efforts on Syria, accelerating our path to victory against ISIS there. And we will do so by staying on offense against ISIS, striking them with our military power, pursuing the training of Syrian Armed Forces and by rebuilding Syria.

[Applause]

This year will mark a strong modernization of our military thanks to the upcoming initial capability  of the Long Range Strike Bomber program and of the Columbia-class submarine program, which has been accelerated thanks to the authorization of more funds in the development of these programs. In addition, last year, in order to ensure space security, we passed into law a legislation that advanced the creation of the sixth branch of the U.S. military : the U.S. Space Force.

[Applause]

With the establishment of this new military force, we will reinforce our ability to protect U.S. satellites against Russian and Chinese anti-satellite weaponry, which is a strongly strategic because these satellites are crucial in guiding our troops in counter-terrorism operations around the world. It will help us to counter any attempt by any geopolitical foe to intercept transmissions for secure communications and will stop ISIS or any terrorist group from hacking communications satellites and transmiting its propaganda like the Tamil Tigers guerilla organization once did in Sri Lanka. The creation of the U.S. Space Force has ensured the maintainance of our status as the most powerful military in the world and is a major step towards our victory against terrorism.

[Applause]

And throughout the previous year, thanks to our sanctions, our collaboration with our allies around the Pacific and to the reinforcement of our military presence on the Pacific, we finally got North Korea on the negotiating table and here are the results : I met with Kim Jong-un in a historical summit in Singapore where we signed a major joint statement stating that the United States and the DPRK commit to establish new U.S.-DPRK relations in accordance with the desire of the peoples of the two countries for peace and prosperity; that the United States and the DPRK will join their efforts to build a lasting and stable peace regime on the Korean Peninsula; the reaffirming the Panmunjom Declaration, the DPRK commits to work towards complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula; and that the United States and the DPRK commit to recovering POW/MIA remains, including the immediate repatriation of those already identified. And here's what we got : all of the remains of our soldiers killed in the Korean War are now back on the U.S. soil after their identification. Their memory, their service and patriotism will be remembered forever. And thanks to the denuclearization of Pyongyang, we got the world to a non-nuclear North Korea, thus restoring peace, security and stability in the Korean peninsula and in the Pacific Ocean.

[Applause]

And in order to ensure the accomplishment of nuclear security, we and our allies ratified the Fissile Cut-Off Ratification Act, prohibiting the further production of fissile material for nuclear weapons or other explosive devices in an effort to ensure the denuclearization of North Korea and Iran and to reinforce nuclear security as well as global peace.

[Applause]

As a consequence, we prevented any World War III and reinforced global peace just like we are going to do with Iran with their new leader Mahmoud Sadeghi during the upcoming U.S.-Iran summit in Istanbul next spring.

[Applause]

So my fellow Americans, the best is yet to come and that's why we need to keep working together as Americans to ensure a bright future for our country, for our children and grandchildren and to keep moving our country forward through a strong and diversified economy for our prosperity and a strong military for our security.

Thank you. God bless you and God bless America.

[Applause]

MIDTERM NEWS AROUND THE COUNTRY
We're now 6 1/2 months away from the 2022 MidTerm Elections which could shape President Rubio's final two years in office. The 2nd MidTerm of an Incumbent President, Republican or Democrat are always a Challenge for the Incumbent occupying the White House. In fact, recently only once has that Party gained Seats and that was 24 Years ago in 1998 when the Republican-controlled Congress went too far trying to impeach then President Bill Clinton. This year will be no different to previous 6-year-itch Elections. While President Rubio still seems to be relativly well liked the American Public has gone willing for balance between the two parties according to recent Polling by CNN/ORC, NBC/WSJ, ABC/WaPo, FOX NEWS and CBS NEWS.
The GOP currently holds 278-157 Majority in the House and a 69-31 Majority in the Senate.
In the Overall Picture Democrats seem to have recruited much better senate candidates than in 2018 and 2020.

CNN's John King Analysis:
Democrats have really expanded the Senate Map over the last 9 months. In Goergia, North Carolina, Iowa, Louisiana and Wisconsin Republicans were slight Favourites heading into the 2022 MidTerms but with several Incumbent Democratic Governors now taking a shot at these Seats the Map has become a lot more complicated for Republicans. But the senate bids of Knute Buehler in Oregon and of Cathy McMorris Rodgers in Washington and the fact that there will be a special election for Cory Booker's senate seat could complicate the Democrats' efforts by putting more of their seats on defense.

GENERIC CONGRESSIONAL BALLOT POLLING
Democrats 51%
Republicans 47%
Democrats 49%
Republicans 44%
Democrats 50%
Republicans 44%
Democrats 50%
Republicans 45%
Republicans 47%
Democrats 46%

CNN's John King Analysis:
Republicans have 13 House retirements, Democrats 10. There are though a lot of endangered Republicans in Districts Hillary Clinton carried in 2016 that flipped to President Rubio during his 2020 Re-Election Campaign. It's likely that they flip back. Virginia has become a tough State for House Republicans for example.

Great first month for the Rubio Administration.

Due to Nikki Haley assuming the Vice-Presidency SC Lt-Gov. Henry McMaster is now the new Governor in South Carolina. McMaster also has to appoint a new Senator by virtue of Lindsay Graham assuming the SoS Office.

There will be a Special Election in Montana due to Rep. Ryan Zinke being the new Interior Secretary.

Governors Greg Abbott of Texas & Jim Justice of WV have to appoint new Senators in their respective States.

WV by law though has to conduct a Special Election for the vacated Seat by Shelley Moore-Capito who assumed the EPA Administrator

Utah Govenor Gary Herbert also has to appoint a new Senator if Senator Mike Lee is confirmed by the Senate as SCOTUS Justice.

How amazing. But this-is just ... true, though!

With those Generic Ballot Numbers, the Republicans will probably lose at least 50 seats(Seeing how large their current majority is a Democratic win in the House popular vote will cause them to lose a lot of seats)

Nolan would have been defeated in real life 2016 - let alone a Rubio 2016.
Otherwise this is a brilliant timeline - keep it up!
