Jake Tapper, Anchor "CNN State of the Union

It's 9am in Washington, 6am in Los Angeles, 3pm in Berlin and 2pm in London on Sunday May 15th 2022. I'm Jake Tapper and this "CNN's STATE OF THE UNION".

CNN PLAYS THE STATE OF THE UNION INTRO

A month ago President Rubio came back from the U.S./Iran Summit in Istanbul and we're just beginning to see the fruits of that. Iran has joined NATO, becoming along with Saudi-Arabia one of our closest allies in the Middle East. Joining me here in the Studio shortly to talk about these Developments will Secretary of State Lindsey Graham, former Obama State Department Official Jen Psaki and CNN Foreign Affairs Correspondent Christiane Amanpour. First though we go to our Chief White House Correspondent Michelle Kosinski who is reporting from the North Lawn of the White House. Michelle, what do you have?

Michelle Kosinski, CNN Chief White House Correspondent
Good Morning Jake! The President has had quite a busy last month. He & his closest Advisers view the Istanbul Summit as a giant step towards prosperity & peace in the Middle East. Along with the Joint Statement Iran will soon like North Korea shut down all their Nuclear Missle Facilities. This is very big step to archieve a nuclear-free Middle East. By joining NATO Iran became instantly along with Saudi Arabia one of our closest allies to stop Terrorism there. After archieving most of his Foreign Policy Agenda during his first 5 1/2 years in Office the President might make some more changes in his Foreign Policy Team after the MidTerms. The White House has a strong desire to put a Woman in as National Security Adviser after Stanley McChrystal took over as Defense Secetary from James Matthis. One Name which is being floated around is Dina Powell who was the Assistant to McChrystal. Back to you Jake...

Jake Tapper, Anchor "CNN State of the Union
Joining me here in the Studio to discuss the Istanbul Summit is Secretary of State Lindsey Graham. Welcome Mr. Secretary. So, my Question is what transpired over the last 5 1/2 years to get us this far?

Lindsey Graham, Secretary of State, Rubio Administration
First of all thanks for having me Jake. Great to me with you. To your Question: One Reason why is has gone very smoothly first with North Korea and now with Iran is because we took a different approach to things. The Obama Administration Iran Deal was the worst Deal ever. There was no Transparency and it even would have encouraged Iran to built more Nuclear Weapons. Also, the Deal by the previous Admistration would have allowed Iran to continue sponsoring Terrorism & Terror Cells in the Middle East. We needed to put more stricter guidelines for Iranians in place through Diplomacy but also through Sanctions. There had to be a lot talks before we got to the Istanbul Summit. Former UN-Ambassador Dan Coats and myself, we made a lot of trips to Iran even during the Presidents Re-Election Campaign in 2020. I am thrilled what we archieved. It will beneficial to the U.S. but also for the entire Middle East Peninsula. We got a lot of help from the Saudis who pressured the Iranians to come to the Table. The new Leadership in Iran helped us as well.

Jake Tapper, Anchor "CNN State of the Union
Thank You Mr. Secretary. We're going into a Commercial Break now. When we come back I'll speak with CNN's Foreign Affairs Correspondent Christiane Amanpour and Jen Psaki who was a State Department Official during the Obama Administration.

CNN COMMERCIAL BREAK

Jake Tapper, Anchor "CNN State of the Union
And we're back from our Commercial. Let me start with you Christiane as you have spent quite a bit of time down there in your early years. Iran seems to me a much different right now compared to where it once was!

Christiane Amanpour, CNN Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent
Absolutely Jake! The entire Region was pretty much continually in crisis because of the Threats Iran posed to Israel. This Iran Deal/Joint Statement is pretty big because it stabalizes the Region and does not distruct it. I'm sure the U.S./Iran will find more common ground over the next few years with Iran acting more in the Region's interest not in self-interest

Jake Tapper, Anchor "CNN State of the Union
Jen, do you agree with with what Secretary Graham said about the previous Administration's Deal being bad?

Jen Psaki, former Obama Administration State Department Official
Well, it's easy to say that now. We faced a lot of Challenges. Congress was very divided. I think we took the hand that we were dealt with and did okay considering the circumstances. Things in the Middle East though improved a lot over the last few years so Full credit to the President's National Security Team for making things happen.

Jake Tapper, Anchor "CNN State of the Union
Thank You Christiane & Jen. That will do it for us today. Next week our Political Panel will be back with the MidTerms fast approaching and many Primaries already being decided. If it's Sunday it's STATE OF THE UNION.

With six months to go until the 2022 MidTerm Elections to be held November 8th the CNN Political Unit releases another Senate Battleground Map. Several high profile Democrats have entered KEY RACES around the Country since CNN's last look at the Senate Races at the end of November 2021 putting Republicans on even more Defense and their Filibuster-proof Senate Majority at a slight risk.
CNN SENATE BATTLEGROUND MAP (June 2022)

SOLID REPUBLICAN (13 Seats)
LEAN REPUBLICAN (1 Seat)
TOSS UP (11 Seats)
LEAN DEMOCRAT (3 Seats)
SOLID DEMOCRAT (7 Seats)

John King, CNN Senior Political Analyst & Host of CNN's "Inside Politics"
This Map has changed quite a bit since we released our last Map. We had 5 Republican-held Senate Races (Wisconsin, Iowa, Ohio, North Carolina and Georgia) as Lean Republican. They have all changed to Toss Up. It's not like that Republicans have done anything wrong here. Most of the changes are coming because Democrats did a stellar recruiting Candidates namely getting Governors Tom Wolf and Roy Cooper to run. Also, Stacey Abrams in Georgia is posing a much stronger Challenge to Incumbent Senator Isakson. In Colorado, Wisconsin and Iowa Democrats managed to recruit 3 solid Candidates in Rep. Permutter, Rep. Kind and Rep. Loebsack. Republicans meanwhile managed to recruit 2 solid Candidates of their own in Oregon with Knute Buehler and Washington State with Cathy McMorris-Rogers. It remains to be seen how much they can make these States competitive in the 2nd Midterm of a Republican Presidency. Cory Booker's Resignation in New Jersey triggered a Special Election but the Democrat there, former Lt. Governor & now-Senator Sheila Oliver seems to be on solid footing for now. In Florida, the President's Home State, Senator Lopez-Cantera is having a slight edge over Rep. Darren Soto. In Ohio Democrats recruited former Obama Consumer Advocate Richard Cordray while in New Hampshire Ann-McLane Kuster is running against Senator Kelly Ayotte. In Missouri Democratic State Auditor Nicole Galloway has made the Race against longterm Senator Roy Blunt very competitive. In Nevada and Arizona Democratic senate Primaries have yet to be held.

Can’t wait for the GOP to win every seat in the midterms

It will probably be like 1938 ,

The Party in Power loses a massive amount of seats but still hold majorities in both houses of Congress due to being in such good position before the midterms and really only losing seats that were only held by them for 6 years due to large election victories.

President Rubio also slammed Governor Napolitano on her record as Secretary of Homeland Security, reminding voters that it was in 2013, under her watch as Secretary, that the Boston Marathon bombing occured. In addition, he reminded voters that Napolitano said after the 2010 Times Square car bomb attempt that this terrorist attack is a « one-off event » and that Faisal Shahzad, the author of this attack, didn’t have ties to terrorist networks even though U.S. intelligence had information immediately demonstrating Shahzad’s ties to the Pakistani Taliban and al Qaeda, which has been acknowledged several days later as Shahzad received bomb-making training from the Pakistani Taliban, which proved his ties with radical Islamic terrorism. The President calls this record makes Napolitano unqualified to be elected to the Senate as it proves her to be weak on terrorism. Women from the Philippines are still called "Filipino," it's not a gendered noun

Actually, in the song “Bonfire” by Donald “Childish Gambino” Glover, Glover uses the term “Filipina” in the line “chilling with a Filipina at your local Jollibee’s”. Therefore, Filipino/a is, in fact, a gendered noun.

Checkmate, LIBERAL DESTROYED.
