In 2000, John McCain defeats George W Bush to win the Republican Presidential nomination.  McCain is successful in persuading General Colin Powell to accept "a call to duty," and Powell agrees to become the Republican Vice Presidential candidate.  George W Bush gives the GOP ticket his wholehearted support and endorsement.  Powell delivers a solid "Responsibility and Compassion" speech, and McCain delivers a stirring and impassioned "History Calls" acceptance speech at the Republican National convention.  The Republican Party puts behind them the divisiveness of the primary season and closes ranks behind McCain and Powell, in preparation for the greater battles that lie ahead, the 2000 election campaign.

The other tickets are as in the actual 2000 election, so the candidates are as follows

Republican
Sen John McCain (AZ)          Pres
Gen Colin Powell (NY)          VP

Democrat
VP Al Gore (TN)                    Pres
Sen Joe Lieberman (CT)       VP

Green
Ralph Nader                         Pres
Winona LaDuke                    VP

Reform
Patrick Buchanan                  Pres
Ezola Foster                          VP

Libertarian
Harry Browne                        Pres
Art Oliver                               VP

How would this election have turned out?
What would a map look like?

I would have voted for McCain for this reason:

McCain wins in landslide.

Thank you Casey.
Who is that in the picture, (with Gore?), and why would that cause you to vote for McCain, if you don't mind my asking?

Thank you Walter, and thank you for your map.

I agree the McCain/Powell ticket would have won a resounding victory.

But don't you think you are being a tad harsh on the Gore/Lieberman ticket?
