For me:

1. President Forever 2008 (still the best version imo)
2. President Elect (would kick ass if around today)
3. Prime Minister Forever/Infinity (any version is good)
4. President Infinity (too many BS results)
5. Campaign Trail
6. Power Politics/Doonesbury
7. The original President/President Forver
8. Election Day (waaay too buggy)
9. Political Machine (waay too silly)

There's probably a few others, but these are the ones that stand out.

I've only played Campaign Trail, and Campaign Manager 2016. Trail was easier, but Manager had more features.

I think he means a more modern version.  One without issues relating to the Soviet Union or Apartheid.

Campaign Trail and the President Forever series are both fun to play in different ways. The former is best for a quick game, while the latter gives you more control over individual states.

My two favorites by far are President Forever 2008 + Primaries and The ReDistricting Game. P4E8 would be the top one, of course.
