What do we expect from people who aren't talking much about the bill? I would expect them to be yeses, but it could be that they're no's and don't want to take the heat for it, sort of the situation with McCain last time.

So the whip count right now appears to be this:

Definite No: 50
All Dems, Collins, Paul
Lean No: 1
McCain
Toss-Up: 2
Murkowski
Capito
Probably yes but could surprise: 2
Ernst (http://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/news/2017/09/21/joni-ernst-leaning-yes-graham-cassidy-health-care-bill/686388001/)
Portman
Definite Yes (for now): 45
All other Repubs

Obviously not a good situation for McConnell.

I would move McCain to toss-up and Murkowski to lean no.

Don't say Trump doesn't have any ideas, though. You "don't get it" if you do.

New PPP poll, Sep 20-21, 638 RV

Graham-Cassidy:

Approve 24%
Disapprove 50%

ACA is 54/38

Several other questions on Graham-Cassidy in the poll.

Graham-Cassidy does not address the reason why McCain voted against skinny repeal. Instead, it tries to corner McCain into voting for it by making his work husband a co-sponsor.

Welp, this is likely dead. Watch for statements from people like Murkowski, Portman, Capito, etc.

With Collins/Paul/McCain already being no's it doesn't really matter, although it wouldn't surprise me to see more moderate R's switch.

I applaud Senator John McCain for standing up to his own party for a second time and again doing what is right for the american people. No matter what our President may say, McCain always was and always will be a true american hero. While he might have dabbled with the tea party for a year or three, McCain has now clearly returned to his moderate roots.

All Hail ObamaCare!!!!

Looks like I was right to have McCain in that Lean No category Tongue

Not going to celebrate until after September 30th ...... actually not until the Dems regain a branch of government. The Republicans will swoop to any level to try and get this rammed through such is their moral & intellectual cowardice on it.

You know Ms Lindsey has been on her faintin' couch nigh on 4 hours now. She might never get over the vapors this betrayal has brought upon her.

Seriously, I bet Graham is pissed!

McConnell wasted this year's reconciliation and failed miserably. It's not surprising when you have a party dominated by dolts who's sole election philosophy was to stop Obama and nothing else. They don't stand for anything and have no desire to actually govern the country, just run it into the ground and let the Democrats attempt to clean up the mess: wash, rinse, repeat.

Sen. Joni Ernst is holding a town hall and responds to a Graham-Cassidy question: "I'll be honest, it seems unlikely that we'll be voting on this." Room bursts into applause.

Also we may need to lock this soon and start a new megathread.

We should keep this open until 10/01, to cover the GOP's new new new bill they'll inevitably write this weekend.

IMO, the biggest loser in all of this is Dean Heller, who has drawn the ire of Trump Republicans in Nevada for helping kill the BCRA, and non-Republicans for abandoning his previous stances on Medicaid and pre-existing conditions by attaching his name to this current bill.

Or worse, do what the South Carolina General Assembly has sometimes done when facing a hard deadline, stop the clock as far as official time is concerned.

I can't see a scenario where McCain votes no and Murkowski votes yes.

Dean Heller should be kicked out in 2018.
