Governor Barack Obama announced his campaign in Chicago, IL. Obama pledged to "move America forward." He praised President Clinton, but acknowledged more work needed to be done. The trifecta for American Greatness; Obama is calling for major healthcare reform, including Medicare for all. He pledged to tackle education, by making college affordable for all Americans, lastly by passing a comprehensive infrastructure package aimed to rebuild American and put people to work!
Obama draws on his six years in the senate and four years as Governor of Illinois, during which he reduced taxes, while providing essential services. Obama also signed into law stringent gun reforms aimed to protect citizens and curb urban violence.
Running for President, Obama hopes to bridge the divide and become a unifying figure. In his speech he appealed to both Democrats and Republicans. "It is to our better angels, that we rise to the challenge and we perfect our union!"
After announcing his run Obama immediately began a five state tour, flying to Des Moines, IA, then to Portsmouth, NH. From there to Columbia, SC and then to Miami, FL, before ending in Carson City, NV.
