Let say that after Clark entered the democratic race, his polls never went down and he became the frontrunner, over comming Dean, Edwards and Kerry somehow. How might a Bush V. Clark race look?

I like Clark, so yes.

It's really impossible to tell how he would have faired in the general election.  How the media would treat him, etc.

Clark would of lost. He was not a good public speaker and he couldn't energize voters.

I think Clark would've had a good chance.  I did and still do like him.

If you listen to him, he actually sounds pretty logical and intelligent.  His speaking skills were improving, I was really hoping for him to win.  Military people have an entirely different set of special interests, would be nice to have a breather from the current ones.

Clark would need a strong, moderate running mate with plenty of legislative experience for a number of reasons…

.To reassure moderate voters that the anti-war general really was a southern moderate in the mould of Bill Clinton.

.To add gravitas to the ticket and reduce the impression of Clark as a political rooky who would not be a safe bet if elected.

.To complement Clark’s moderate rhetoric with a moderate running mate with a moderate record in congress.

.To take on Dick Cheney effectively in the debates in contrast to Clark who might not be a strong performer in the presidential debates.

.To add to Clark’s name recognition by adding a recognised moderate to the ticket to reinforce the notion of a Clark lead ticket as a moderate, southern democratic ticket in the mould of Bill Clinton and the DLC.

I have probably repeated my self several times there but what the hay…

I think a Clark VP short list would proably contain the following names…

…Wes’ List…

John Breaux (D-LA)
Bob Graham (D-FL)
Evan Bayh (D-IN)
Max Baucus (D-MT)
Blanche Lincoln (D-AR)*
Joe Biden (D-DE)
Bill Nelson (D-FL)
Harry Reid (D-NV)
Tim Johnson (D-SD)

*ineligible to run as Clark’s vp if his home state is AR, however I seem to remember hearing that his actually residence is in VA, hence she is in the list…

Of these I think the short list would have to be…

…Wes’ Short List…

John Breaux (D-LA)
Joe Biden (D-DE)
Bill Nelson (D-FL)
Harry Reid (D-NV)
Evan Bayh (D-IN)

I say Bush win. I think Bush is unbeatable, unless Reagan wants to fight him. LOL

Bush really isn't unbeatable. He's very beatable. But I still think he would've beaten Clark, partly due to fundamental factors. And Clark would be running on national security. Not good.
