And now, the hilarious parts of this story.
Gov. Bentley opened door of DC hotel in underwear expecting Rebekah Mason, report claims.

Here were some released texts between Bentley and Mason included in the House impeachment report:

The way these texts were found? Bentley had his iCloud account linked to his state-issued iPad, which he gave to his then-wife... just wow. What a story this is.

He'll probably get ready elected just like Mark 'gone hiking' Sanford

He is term limited next year. And old enough to be unlikely elected again. Especially in Alabama, which became essentially one party state of late. A long list of Republican aspirants is waiting....

Cant they use this evidence to re-litigate the gutting of the voting rights act back to the SCOTUS?

I'm not sure, but I do know in other states where one or more lawsuits presented situations where putting the state back under preclearance was not only possible but objectively warranted resulted in no action - North Carolina, for example.

For that reason, I wouldn't hold your breath on this.

Good lord those messages are cringy when you read through all of them. Pretty sick how they talk about god and such while having an affair and misusing state property.

Bentley might be the dumbest adulterous politician since Mark Sanford if he seriously gave his wife the iPad with his sexts on them.

Both sides do this, but it is pretty embarrassing. Everyone has their seductive lovey-lovey moments. Let's not pretend that we don't text like this to our lovers.

Bentley will be impeached, Lt. Gov. Kay Ivey will be Governor until 2019, unless she runs for a full term. The Bentley/Moore/Hubbard baggage could derail her in a primary, but she ran for Lt. Gov. in 2010, he did not pick her. She ran separately.

I find it amusing that their texting like their age. The dialogue seems like something out of a 1960s film.

I'm not sure you understand why he's being impeached...

The missing element that baffles me is why? What political benefit is there in a 60% Republican state to close these offices?

Duh, isn't it obvious?? To make Alabama a 65% Republican state.

Frankly, I don't, and I've been dating the same girl for two years. Those texts were plain creepy and reminded me of Gollum and his precious. "My sweet..." ?

LMAO I died reading that! Bentley should resign tbh.

Bentley will soon find Jesus and all will be forgiven

Him and Sanford could be hiking buddies.

Mason even tried to advise him to use his other phone:

I guess he was too technologically illiterate to realize that his iPhone's texts would also appear on his iPad.

There's also a 24-minute G-rated phone sex call that was uncovered, but I really advise you all to not listen to it.

Oh yeah, Mason is also a terrible person, which is important to remember.

Is there an opportunity for Alabama Dems to find their version of JBE here?  This is almost Blagojevich level stuff here.

I think only Maddox has a chance to be a JBE-esque candidate. Maybe Cobb, but less likely.

I think Ivey will be the Governor very soon and then she will probably win re-election. The Democratic bench is far to little to take the Governor mansion at the moment.

She'll be 74 in 2018, I don't think she'll be running for reelection
