Looks like the National Security Council has been in flux. McFarland was also a Flynn and Bannon ally. Interesting...

Good in that it shows the bannonites getting thrown out of the executive branch, bad in that it increases the power of the neoconservatives.

Military moving all the politicos out of the NSC. This in itself is not a bad thing.

When it comes to foreign policy the bannonites are better.

McFarland could not possibly be described as Bannonite. McFarland could only be described as a "conservalebrity" who was picked because she was a Clinton antagonist. She was a Reagan foreign policy head and likely loved the bombing.

Good, good. Hopefully McMaster finishes consolidating power and deposes Trump in a coup next.

Him, future Chief of Staff Gary Cohn, and whomever replaces Tillerson when he inevitably quits could hopefully organize a Cabinet vote to remove Trump from power.

Seems like that's going to be Nikki Haley, no?  Inexplicably, she seems to have a higher public profile than Tillerson already.

For the sake of this hypothetical, I could see Mattis, Mnuchin, Price, Chao, DeVos, Shulkin, Kelly, and whoever replaces Tillerson as the 8 needed to invoke the 25th Amendment. The difficulty, of course, is getting Pence to go along with this.

Doesn't Congress have to later affirm the Cabinet's decision with a supermajority vote? If they had the votes to do that they might as well just impeach him from the get-go.

You're right (contingent on Trump realizing he can protest and ask Congress to vote), although perhaps his cabinet admitting he's mentally unstable would be more convincing to Congressional Republicans that he should be removed than any legal wrongdoing. Strangely enough, Pence would only be "Acting President", so Trump would get to keep his office, just not have any of the powers. I'm sure something about that is appealing to him.

I've actually been quite impressed with Haley, who of course had zero FP experience, and the job she's been doing for our country at the UN

Agreed. Haley has done a masterful job so far. As for McMasters, I like him more and more each day. Seems a Scowcroftian figure and he needs to toss the Neo-Nazi Gorka out now.
