What even is this cycle?

Bredesen in TN, DeWine and Kucinch in OH, Echoes of Pawlenty and Coleman in MN, and now Lamont.

He could be the anti-Malloy.

Anyone who beat Lieberman in a Democratic primary is good in my book. Lamont for Connecticut, then

I prefer Bronin, though I'm skeptical he can win the nomination. If this does end up Lamont vs. Bysiewicz, I am definitely supporting Lamont.

Jonathan Harris isn't a viable campaign, correct?

If he follows through in a run for Governor I don't think he'd get very far, though I had seen that he was interested in dropping down to run for the open AG spot.

The MIC would be so pissed if both Ned Lamont and Dennis Kucinch are governors.

Lamont doesn't seems to be an exceptionally strong candidate to me (after all, he lost to Lieberman as Democratic nominee in generally blue Connecticut), but with present scarcity of serious Democratic candidates in governor race even he may be the best.

That was a different time. Lamont would be a good candidate who could actually win in CT.

Kucinich has about as much chance of becoming governor of Ohio as I do of becoming governor of West Virginia.

End of year fundraising:

Republicans:
David Stemerman - $1,823,073, $1,598,734 CoH
Bob Stefanowski - $498,020, $307,836 CoH
Mark Lauretti - $277,810, $188,038 CoH
Prasad Srinivasan - $256,909, $200,462 CoH
David Walker - $249,480, $118,640 CoH
Mike Handler - $209,784, $152,317 CoH
Steve Obsitnik - $171,422, $110,964 CoH
Tim Herbst - $161,732, $64,043 CoH
Peter Lumaj - $140,890, $122,032 CoH
Joe Visconti - $3,005, $146 CoH
Peter Thalheim - $1,925, $1,902 CoH

Democrats:
Joe Ganim - $2,750, $2,750 CoH
Jacey Wyatt - $1,117, $74 CoH

Independents:
Oz Griebel - $13,685, $13,530 CoH
Micah Welintukonis - $9,060, $4,004 CoH

https://ctmirror.org/2018/01/22/data-candidates-submit-end-of-year-fundraising-figures/

Should be noted that Lamont just got in on the Democratic side, and Bysiewicz and Bronin are still exploring right now, so their fundraising isn't up yet. Ganim also got in pretty recently, while these Republicans have been in for a while.

Who is Stemerman? The only candidate with really good fundraising numbers. And Democratic candidates numbers are simply pathetic.

Joe Ganim is a convicted felon and the other lady is a nobody. No real candidates have gotten in yet.

Erin Stewart (R) is announcing her run for either Gov or Lt. Gov next week.

Erin Stewart is the only republican who makes me nervous. She has been open saying she isn't running for LT Governor so she probably is running for Governor. Don't know if she could make it through the primary.

That's becomes interesting. After Malloy's mess a sane Republican can be both desirable and possible...

Lean R.

I mean, let's see if she can win the primary. I feel a little bit like the Dems who were really afraid of Rubio in 2014, but Stewart's definitely the person who's made me feel the worst about my homestate so far.

Wow. Erin Stewart seems great! Smiley

She's probably the GOP's only hope to pick up a gubernatorial seat this year.

She seems like a threatening opponent, assuming she survives the primary, which is difficult for a moderate Republican in this day and age.
