I think Jones will pull this out; Coakley led Brown by over 20 points a few months before the MA Special election.

Keep telling yourself that.. Massachusetts will at least elect certain Republicans ie. Charlie Baker and Mitt Romney. Alabama has not elected a statewide Democrat in a while

This.

You're probably right, but hope springs eternal.  And if anyone can blow this, it's Roy Moore (although he may've peaked a week too early in the primary).

I also keep feeling the need to point out that Scott Brown won entirely due to turnout. He got less votes than Romney in 12' and and he got 37.5%. MA Republicans turned out at a higher rate than MA Dems, and that allowed Scott Brown to pull off an upset.

Remember, tonight at 6:30 ET is the Lincoln-Douglas debate. This could be the deciding factor for the runoff.

Strange wasn't in a position to have a chance at winning the primary, but he may be there now. The last minute push could be enough, though Moore remains a pretty heavy favorite.

Wow, another $1.2 million for Strange from Senate Leadership Fund and Chamber of Commerce.

https://twitter.com/rpyers/status/910607642371878913

wow, more money in the trash!

do these people not get it? they're backing a charisma black hole who has just as much potential to lose in the general election as literally Roy "reds and yellows" Moore.

Not to mention that Strange is already outspending him 10 to 1 and running false attack ads 24/7. And he's still trailing in the polls, which should tell you all you need to know about his "electability" in the GE. This guy even makes Roy Blunt look like a strong candidate.

I can't see Strange beating Moore in the primary.

General election prediction:

54% Roy Moore
42% Dong Jones

Who gets the other 4%?  I don't think there are any third-party candidates on the ballot.

While not a majority, many people in Alabama would agree with this.

I mean, when he made that statement, homosexual conduct was only legal nationally for two years. Still makes his statement despicable, but historical context at least gives us insight.

If you want to know what Strange's performance was like, find a '16 R primary debate on YouTube instead and watch Ben Carson's debate style. TL;DR: Strange was very positive, very cordial, put the audience to sleep, and made little attempt to refute Moore's attacks or attack Moore.

Moore had some cringeworthy/boring moments, and him suggesting God wanted Strange to lose didn't come off too well, but his overall performance was solid. And Moore didn't need a big win tonight - he just needed a slight win. And he definitely got that.

It says a lot about just how low that channel has sunk that I can't tell if you're serious or not.

Most Republicans in 2005 agreed with this, i'm sure. You notice how man whose skin is entirely snake oil Luther Strange won't even touch him on this topic?

Luther held himself together for the first 20 mins, then got driven over up until the last 10 mins. Overall, Moore win.

Part of me wants to see Moore win just to see what he does to the English language while in office.

Remember that "Rural Juror" song from 30 Rock?
