If AL Republicans are literally able to rationalize voting for a pedophile, where is this going to stop? How bad can a Republican get without losing his party’s support?

It can't get worse. Is there anything worse than being a pedophile? If Roy Moore is elected than democracy is a failed experiment. It will have resulted in the lowest pond scum of humanity getting elected to the highest governing body in the country.

I guess we'll see if they eventually nominate a mass murderer.

Anybody on here seen Donnie Darko? This whole episode is giving me serious flashbacks to that one lady who was raising money to help pay the legal expenses of an alleged child pornography collector because of course it's just a smear campaign by those who felt threatened by his motivational tapes.

I was thinking “exposed as literal Nazi,” but upon further reflection I don’t want to argue about whether Nazis are worse than pedophiles or not, because that’s not a question that we should have to ask ourselves while discussing American politics

So many Republicans are defending him because he has an "R" next to his name, The GOP is going through a moral crisis.

BTW I haven't seen the RNC respond to this controversy.

This ‘if true’ line used in all the GOP statements is going to be their out. Next week all will be forgiven and they’ll just say it was never proven

It will be much harder to forget once the ads start, which will happen if Moore stays in the race (which I'm sure will happen).

One thing that's sad (aside from Moore's alleged acts of child molestation) is that Moore just might hit 60% anyway.

JMC has a poll of the race in the field starting tonight.  Results should be published no later than Sunday.

Moore was never going to hit 60%, and he's probably going to lose now.

Greg Gianforte won in Montana this year the day after he body-slammed a journalist; I don't really have faith that these accusations will sink Moore at all. I hope I'm proven wrong.

There's a big difference between body-slamming a journalist and molesting underage girls, though.

Also, I believe a significant portion of the vote in that election was cast early and not on Election Day (although I get your point and Gianforte may have very well still won).

Sounds like Strange is seriously considering jumping in:

Well, as has been stated a ton of times since the MT special, the body slam happened after most of the votes were already in. It's possible Gianforte would have still won even if he body-slammed a reporter right before voting started, but as it stands, Montana is a bad example to use when arguing whether certain things matter or not.

Strange is pretty bad too, but compared to Moore he'd be a fine Senator.

Strange has no realistic chance of actually winning as a write-in, but his entry would make Democrats ecstatic.

I think he'd get 10-15% of the vote and hand the race to Jones, which is fine with me.

Yeah, Strange has the distinction of also being horrible and hated by voters that he wouldn't peel off any Democratic votes, but the more moderate/rational Republican voters could be persuaded to write him in instead. Jones can win with 45%.
