Chapter 2.7: Election Night - Part Two

It's now 6:01 Eastern time. Polls have closed in Indiana and Kentucky, the two first states to close their polls. They will also be the earliest ones providing results. The two states send a combined 15 representatives to Parliament. We're joined by former Labor governor of Kentucky, Steve Beshear.

Good evening, Governor Beshear.

"Good evening, Wolf. It's great to be here."

It's good to have you, Governor. So the most pressing questions on everyone's mind right now - what can the results in the states of Indiana and Kentucky, your home state, tell us about how the election is going to shape out?

"Well, I think it's going to be an important signal for the rest of election night. I know that in Kentucky, Labor currently does not have any seats. And there's a marginal seat in the constituency of Louisville that will signal if Labor will be able to expand its plurality in the election. Anne Northup, who has held this seat since 1996, and is now a member of the Civic Union, almost lost to current Labor nominee John Yarmuth in 2016. If Yarmuth manages to oust Northup, it would mean Labor is on track to win more seats. "

For those of you watching at home, Kentucky is currently represented by 5 Conservatives and 2 former Liberals, Northup, who is now part of the Civic Union, and Andy Barr, who joined The Alignment. Indiana is represented by 5 Laborites, 3 Conservatives, and one Liberal-turned-Civic Union.

I have news that the first results are coming in.

It is that Conservative Hal Rogers has been reelected in the constituency of Boone-Cumberland, with 52.34% of the vote.

More results have come in from Kentucky and Indiana:

- In Jackson Purchase, Conservative James Comer has been reelected
- In Bowling Green, Conservative Brett Guthrie has been reelected
- In Indiana Dunes, Labor's Pete Visclosky has been reelected
- In St Joseph, Labor's Joe Donnelley has been reelected
- In Indianapolis, Labor's André Carson has been reelected

In the three remaining Kentucky districts, a recount has been issued due to the closeness of the vote:

- In Louisville, between incumbent Civic Union's Anne Northup and Labor's John Yarmuth
- In Ohio River, between incumbent Conservative Geoff Davis, Libertarian Thomas Massie, and Labor's Dennis Keene
- In Bluegrass, between incumbent The Alignment's Andy Barr and Labor's Jim Gray

We have results from the rest of Indiana. All incumbents have been reelected.

- In Fort Wayne, Labor's Tim Roemer has been reelected
- In Tippecanoe, Conservative Todd Rokita has been reelected
- In Morse, Civic Union's Susan Brooks has been reelected
- In Whitewater River, Conservative Luke Messer has been reelected
- In Wabash, Conservative Larry Bucshon has been reelected
- In Monroe, Labor's Baron Hill has been reelected

So far, here are the party standings:

Conservative - 6 Seats
Labor - 5 Seats
Civic Union - 1 Seat
Too Close To Call - 3 Seats

We'll be here shortly with more results.

FIRST SEAT TO SWITCH PARTIES:LOUISVILLE
Labor's JOHN YARMUTH has defeated Civic Union's incumbent ANNE NORTHUP with a margin of 0.8% in Louisville.

This brings Labor's total seats to six, tied with the Conservatives. The Civic Union has one seat. Two other Kentucky constituencies are too close to call.

Chapter 2.7 : Election Night - Part Three

Welcome back to CNN's election center, I'm Wolf Blitzer. I'm joined here by my colleague Anderson Cooper. Welcome, Anderson.

Thanks, Wolf.

It's 7:07 Eastern Time. Have any other results been tabulated?

The recounts in Bluegrass and Ohio River are still ongoing. However, a source at the site has told me that in Ohio River, incumbent Geoff Davis has definitely lost his seat. The recount is tabulating the winner between Libertarian Massie and Labor's Keene.

How about the states which have just closed their polls?

We have results coming in from New England at this moment.

- In Vermont, Progressive-Socialist Bernie Sanders has won reelection, with 65% of the vote
- In Winnipesaukee, Labor's Carol Shea-Porter defeated incumbent Civic Union's Jeb Bradley
- In Old Man of the Mountain, Labor's Annie McLane Kuster defeated incumbent Civic Union's Charlie Bass

LABOR gains 2 additional seats!

Please comment and tell me if the format of election night needs changing! Thank you Smiley

Chapter 2.7 : Election Night - Part Four

We're joined now by guest analyst and former Labor governor of Michigan, Jennifer Granholm. Welcome, Madame Governor.

"Good evening, Wolf."

So far, Labor has picked up 3 seats. This has to be a good evening over at Labor headquarters, right?

"Definitely, Wolf. Although we're not getting too confident. Labor needs a significant amount of seats to have a majority, and it's pretty unlikely to happen."

Remember, Ronald Reagan was the last Prime Minister to have an outright single-party majority in Parliament.

"Yes, and Labor needs to pick up 49 seats and not lose any to have a majority. They lost two seats when Bernie Sanders and later Raul Grijalva defected to the New Progressive and Socialist Workers' Party. They've picked up three so far, as you've noted, thus they need 46 more seats. Its unlikely they'll have a majority, however. But as long they increase the number of seats they have, it should be a good night for Labor and the Prime Minister. "

Sorry, Governor, I have to interrupt you, we have results coming in from South Carolina and Georgia right now.

The Georgia results first:

- In Miccosukee, Labor's Sanford Bishop has been reelected
- In Panola, Labor's Hank Johnson has been reelected
- In Atlanta Center, Labor's John Lewis has been reelected
- In Atlanta North, Civic Union's Jon Ossoff has won the open seat vacated by retiring Independent Liberal Tom Price
- In Vidalia, Labor's John Barrow has been reelected
- In Atlanta South, Labor's David Scott has been reelected

And now for South Carolina:

- In Sea Islands North, incumbent Civic Union's Tim Scott and Libertarian Mark Sanford are headed toward a recount
- In Edisto, The Alignment's Joe Wilson has been reelected
- In Carolina Upcountry, incumbent Conservative Jim DeMint and the Alignment's Trey Gowdy are headed toward a recount
- In Friendship, The Alignment's Mick Mulvaney and Labor's Archie Parnell are headed toward a recount, in an election night shock!
- In Charleston-Columbia, Labor's Bakari Sellers has held the open seat vacated by retiring Labor's Jim Clyburn

The total seat count for all the parties is now:

Labor - 14
Conservative - 6
Civic Union - 2
The Alignment - 1
New Progressive & Socialist Workers' - 1
Too Close To Call - 5

Stay tuned as more results come in.

It's a former Liberal member who chose not to join either the CU or the Alignment.

LABOR PICKS UP ONE SEAT IN VIRGINIA; POSSIBLY TWO MORE
We have news that Virginia Secretary of the Commonwealth Kelly Thomasson has released the results of the election there - four of the state's eleven constituencies are currently being recounted and confirmed.

- In Yorktown-Tidewater North, Christian Democrat Tim Kaine and incumbent the Alignment's Rob Wittman are headed toward a recount
- In Chincoteague, Labor's Lynwood Lewis and incumbent Civic Union's Scott Taylor are headed toward a recount
- In James River, incumbent Labor's Bobby Scott has been reelected
- In Tidewater South, Labor's Donald McEachin has unseated incumbent Conservative Randy Forbes. This was an expected pick-up, as Forbes had survived 2016 thanks to an independent leftist candidate, which split the Labor vote.
- In Appomattox Court House, Conservative Tom Garrett has unseated Labor's Tom Perriello.
- In Shenandoah, Conservative Bob Goodlatte has been reelected
- In Powhatan, Conservative Leslie Haley and incumbent The Alignment's David Brat are headed toward a recount
- In Alexandria-Arlington, Labor's Don Beyer has been reelected
- In Jefferson, Conservative Morgan Griffith has been reelected
- In Bull Run, Labor's Jennifer Wexton and incumbent Civic Union's Barbara Comstock are headed towards a recount
- In Fairfax, Labor's Gerry Connolly has been reelected

We now go to our guest analyst, Jeffrey Lord. Hello, Jeffrey.

Good evening, Wolf.

We all know you're no fan of Labor or the Prime Minister, but you have to admit, tonight is turning out better than expected for Mr. Obama.

I have to disagree with you, Wolf.

But it's only 7:22 in the evening, and Labor has already picked up 5 seats, 10% of what they need to gain a majority. And there's still nearly 400 seats outstanding -

This is just a result of a specific popular program, EWIG. It's no surprise that these pick-up have been in areas these socialistic entitlements have been granted. And I'm 100% certain that the rest of America will punish Labor for wasting their hard-earned tax dollars.

Well, Jeffrey, I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Regardless, the current amount of seats for each party is now:

Labor - 25
Conservative - 18
Civic Union - 4
The Alignment - 3
NPSW - 2
Too Close To Call - 9
