TEN MORE STATES CLOSE POLLS; AWAITING RESULTS

It's now 9:01 Eastern Time, and ten more states, equalling 68 seats, have closed their polls. Had Louisiana's voting hours not been extended, its results should have been brought in now. Regardless, one state - South Dakota - is already ready to report, I'm being told:

- In South Dakota, Farmer-Populist Stephanie Herseth Sandlin has absolutely crushed all opposition and received 87.3% of the vote, despite having opponents from the Libertarians, the Conservatives, the Alignment, and the NPSW. She has been safely reelected! This is her party's first win tonight.

Labor - 101
Conservative - 65
Civic Union - 14
The Alignment - 8
NPSW - 2
Texan National - 2
Farmer-Populist - 1
Tim Kaine's Christian Democrats - 1
Libertarian - 1

Prime Minister Obama watching election night coverage at Labor party headquarters

It was so far a very good night for Labor and Barack. Labor has gained 21 seats, with potential to win a lot more as more results come in and constituencies Too Close to Call are called.

At the very least, Barack imagined, he'd be able to govern without the Civic Union, forming a coalition with just the Farmers-Populist and perhaps the NPSW. He refused to get too optimistic, for fears of potentially jinxing other constituencies. Yet, in the back of his mind, lingered the hope for a Parliamentary majority.

LABOR DOMINATES NYC; UPSTATE TOO CLOSE TO CALL

There has been a massive swing towards Labor in Upstate New York and Long Island, reflecting what's happening in New England and the Rust Belt, while retaining all of their seats in New York City.

- In the Hamptons, Labor's Al Krupski and incumbent The Alignment's Lee Zeldin are headed toward a recount!
- In Connetquot, Labor's Steve Bellone and incumbent Civic Union's Peter King are headed toward a recount!
- In Long Island Sound, Labor's Thomas Suozzi and incumbent Civic Union's Steve Israel are headed toward a recount!
- In Nassau, Labor's Kathleen Rice and incumbent Civic Union's Ed Mangano are headed toward recount!
- In Rockaway, Labor's Gregory Meeks has been reelected
- In Flushing, Labor's Grace Meng has been reelected
- In Brooklyn Bridge, Labor's Nydia Velazquez has been reelected
- In Jamaica Bay, Labor's Hakeem Jeffries has been reelected
- In Flatbush, Labor's Yvette Clarke has been reelected
- In Central Park, Labor's Jerrod Nadler has been reelected
- In Staten Island, Civic Union's Daniel Donovan has been reelected
- In Queensboro, Labor's Carolyn Maloney has been reelected
- In Harlem, Labor's Adriano Espaillat has been reelected
- In Pelham, Labor's Joseph Crowley has been reelected
- In Bronx, Labor's Jose Serrano has been reelected
- In Yonkers, Labor's Elliot Engel has been reelected
- In Rockland, Labor's Ken Zebrowski Jr. has been reelected
- In Roosevelt, Labor's James Skouifis and incumbent Civic Union's Sean Maloney are headed toward a recount!

- In Cayuga, Labor's Richard Hartunian and incumbent Civic Union's John Katko are headed toward a recount!
- In Rochester, Labor's Lovely Warren has won the open seat vacated by retiring Labor's Louise Slaughter
- In Buffalo, Labor's Brian Higgins has been reelected
- In Niagara, The Alignment's Chris Collins has been reelected

Current seat standings:

Really enjoying this TL, but I gotta ask where Sherrod Brown is w/o the Senate? I see no reason why he would leave the House, and therefore no reason why he wouldn't represent Akron West over his IRL replacement, Betty Sutton.

He runs for Governor in 2006 and 2010 and wins - that's why Strickland was in Parliament until he retired this election.

Has Labor lost any seats so far? I'd like to see them lose at least one Smiley

And what happened to the Farmer-Populists? Was it something like what happened to the Lib Dems in 2015?

Great work! (Can't wait for DFW's results)

How many seats are needed for a majority?
There are 441 seats in Parliament, so 221 seats are needed for a majority.

Technically, Labor has lost the two seats that Bernie Sanders and Raul Grijalva occupy. Additionally, the Labor-held seat of Wiregrass in Alabama has went to a recount, and Bobby Bright is in danger of losing his seat.

The Farmers-Populist had a very successful election in 2016, and lost their popularity thanks to being the junior parter in a coalition.

The Northern Kentucky and Nashville seats.

In Ohio River, we can confirm that Labor's Dennis Keene has defeated both Libertarian Thomas Massie and incumbent Conservative Geoff Davis, beating out Massie by a margin of 984 votes!

It's believed that Davis's initial opposition to EWIG hospitals, as well as him supporting Governor Bevin in the court case, that did him in, allowing Massie to sweep up traditionally Torie voters. However, Keene supported the hospitals from the very beginning, and won over voters whose families and acquaintances had benefited from the hospital in Maysville. Such local issues helped carry Keene over the line.

In Nashville, Labor's Jeff Yarbro has unseated the Civic Union's Beth Harwell, with a margin of over 4,000 votes. Thanks to the constituency's large African-American population, this was always going to be a competitive seat. Harwell also shot herself in the foot, only declaring her intentions to run for reelection after losing the gubernatorial primary. This allowed Yarbro to campaign longer and paint the incumbent as always looking for higher office.

In Montana, Libertarian Matt Rosendale has unseated Farmer-Populist Amanda Curtis with a margin of over 6,000 votes. Rosendale managed to catch Curtis flatfooted in defending Labor's policies. Despite running a passionate campaign, Curtis ended up tied to what Rosendale coined "the East Coast urban elite," out of touch with Montana's values. Curtis, however, declared her candidacy for the 2021 election in Montana.

In Rocky Foothills, the three-way recount between Progressive-Socialist Steve Fenberg, Labor's Kerry Donovan and incumbent Civic Union's Mark Udall has results in Donovan defeating Fenberg by a margin of 3,205 votes, with Udall trailing behind them. Donovan succeeded in rallying the woman vote, showing how she is the only woman in the race, as well as riding partially on Prime Minister Obama's popularity. Donovan also outflanked her opponents, Fenberg by skewering NPSW tax policies as being prohibitive to tech job growth in the district, and Udall on abortion.

Mojave, Rocky Foothills, Minnetonka and Gila-Cibola.

In Mojave, Labor's Jacky Rosen has unseated the Civic Union's Joe Heck by a margin of 3,860 votes! Rosen was helped by the unofficial "King" of Nevada politics, Harry Reid, who helped turn out many Labor-supporting voters, such as casino workers. Rosen, a synagogue leader, also turned out many Jewish retirees, contributing to her victory.

In Minnetonka, Labor's Al Franken has unseated the Civic Union's Erik Paulsen, by a healthy margin of 8,000 votes. We can contribute this victory to an electoral alliance between Labor and the Farmers-Populist in Minnesota, where each agreed not to run candidates in the other's 4 districts.

In Gila-Cibola, Labor's Ken Miyagishima has unseated Libertarian Gary Johnson by a margin of 3,450 votes! Miyagishima rode the gubernatorial coattails of Labor's Martin Heinrich, who won the gubernatorial election with over 61% of the vote. Additionally, Johnson ran a poor campaign, overly reliant on social media and not enough on ground game. He also appeared to be out of depth during debates.

YES FRANKEN

Can we also see the results for Friendship, Bull Run, Wiregrass, Red Cedar, Carbondale and Wheatland?

Bull Run has already been reported - Labor's Jennifer Wexton has won.

In Friendship, what some call the biggest shock of the night, little-known Labor's Archie Parnell has defeated The Alignment's Mick Mulvaney! Labor often struggled with this seat, as nominating white candidates lead to drops in African-American turnout. However, Larry Sabato, a nonpartisan pundit, is telling us over email that the excitement of having a black Prime Minister in Barack Obama has lead to record turnout in the African American community in Friendship! Parnell defeated Mulvaney by a margin of approximately 2,800 votes.

In Wiregrass, Conservative Martha Roby has unseated Labor's Bobby Bright. So far, this is the only seat in which a Labor incumbent has been unseated. However, many were predicting Bright's loss, a relic in a seat which had already shifted significantly to the right. Roby defeated Bright by a margin of over 6,500 votes.

In Red Cedar, Labor's Gretchen Whitmer has unseated the Alignment's Mike Bishop with a margin of 4,000 votes. This race is particularly interesting, as Whitmer was serving in Bishop's old job - majority leader of the Michigan Senate. Bishop served between 2007-2010. Whitmer got the job in 2015 following the 2014 elections.

In Carbondale, Labor's James Clayborne Jr. has unseated the Civic Union's Mike Bost in one of the tightest races - a margin of just 851 votes. Clayborne was greatly helped by the Prime Minister, another Illinois representative, and managed to rebuild the old Labor coalition in Southern Illinois. Bost announced he is running for a rematch in 2021.

In Wheatland, Conservative Roger Marshall has managed to unseat Farmer-Populist Kathleen Sebelius by a margin of 13,000 votes.

In Cincinnati, P.G. Sittenfeld has unseated Civic Union's Steve Chabot by a margin of approximately 3,000. Sittenfeld's youth was contrasted with Chabot, who was twice his age. Additionally, Sittenfeld managed to win over a majority of blue collar workers, who abandoned the new Civic Union out of the dried husk of the Liberals.

In Mohican, Labor's Thomas West has unseated Conservative Bob Gibbs by a decisive margin of 6,000 votes, mostly thanks to The Alignment's candidate Steve Austria coming in third and spoiling the conservative vote.

In Miami Valley, incumbent Conservative Warren Davidson has defeated The Alignment's Tricia Boehner by a margin of 5,000 votes. This is mostly due to Boehner being tied to her father, former Prime Minister John Boehner, who was not popular in the constituency after his resignation.

In Dayton, Labor's Nan Whaley has unseated incumbent Civic Union's Mike Turner with a margin of 11,000 votes. Whaley's personal popularity in Dayton helped propel her forward, as well as Mike Turner being branded "out of touch" after fifteen years in Washington.

In Mansfield-Zanesville, Conservative Pat Tiberi has won back his old seat, unseating incumbent The Alignment's Jay Hottinger with a margin of 13,000 votes.

In Cape May, Labor's Stephen Sweeney has unseated Civic Union's Frank LoBoindo, a giant of the Parliament, with a margin of 6,000 votes. LoBoindo was accused of granting favorable contracts to donors and friends through his position in the Ministry of Transportation. Despite no evidence coming to light of this, the rumors were enough to soil LoBoindo's reputation, allowing Sweeney to capture the seat.

- In Pine Barrens, Labor's Troy Singleton unseated Civic Union's Tom Macarthur after it was found that Macarthur personally threatened protesters at his New Jersey office by contacting their employers and requesting their dismissals. Singleton won with a margin of 8,000 votes.

In Hatchie-Obion, the Alignment's Mike Norris has unseated freshman Conservative David Kustoff with a margin of 4,500 votes. Norris ran a fairly energetic campaign while Kustoff barely did so, expecting to win regardless. The seat became significantly more competitive since 2016.

In Dallas Northeast, Texan National Pete Sessions has unseated The Alignment's George W. Bush, son of former Prime Minister George H.W. Bush, with a margin of 2,500 votes. The son Bush was soft-spoken but was one of the main supporters of continuing the War in Iraq, something that was very unpopular. Additionally, Bush was tainted as a "beltway insider" rather than sticking out for Texas.
