Who is most likely to win the nomination, and face Ed Gillespie (the likely GOP nominee) in November?

Northam.  He's the LG and has the "Virginia Democratic Establishment" backing him.

However the "DC establishment" is backing Perriello.

Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam will win the 2017 Virginia Democratic gubernatorial primary on June 13. The Virginia's governor's race is Lean D/Tossup.

That's my prediction at this rate.

I think Northam gets it, but I personally hope Perriello wins.

You all overestimate the average voter's deference to state party leaders over national leaders.

Perriello will win by a slim margin.

Northam wins easily. Virginia is not the kind of state that would reject someone like Northam.

It looks like Northam has an edge, but I'm pulling for Perriello.

Northam, but he'll only win if he gets people out there and motivated for him, which he's doing.  I am very optimistic about his victory.

Northam. I love living in an open primary state. Strongly considering voting for him in the primary.

Same here. Will vote for him in the primary and donated to his campaign. Perriello comes off as a good intentioned man, he is, but Gillespie will rip him apart by calling him a NY lib, etc., etc. Northam can avoid most of those jabs as a veteran, a doctor, and a moderate down to earth guy.

I really don't know right now. I want some more polls to come out, but I'm getting the feeling that Perriello's momentum significantly stalled in the past few weeks, and I'm doubtful he can get it back, although he has an ace up his sleeve in the form of Obama.

I'd say Tilt Northam for now.

Are you someone who's actually considering voting for him in the general or just want to manipulate/get a better Democratic candidate?

Bumping, in case anyone wants to revisit their predictions given the fact the race is extremely close, polling-wise, after all.

Perriello will pull off a narrow victory, his voters will be the most motivated and Northam supporters will believe his victory assured.

I know and implicitly trust a lot of Perriello's campaign staff (a lot of overlap with New Hampshire For Bernie happened when Perriello hired Julia Barnes to run his campaign).

I'm hopelessly biased, but I think he's got it.

Northam will win NOVA, Hampton Road, Richmond and the burbs, while Perriello will take everything else. In the end, strong Northam win.
