Will Kerry-Edwards be the last time the Democrats nominate two white men for the foreseeable future?

It *probably* won't happen again for a while.  I do see one plausible scenario for an all-white male ticket in 2020 though: If Bernie Sanders runs and wins the nomination, he's probably less likely than most of the others to weigh identity politics as a consideration in his veep pick, and (because he's old and has to consider the possibility that he won't make it through his full term) would most likely pick someone who's ideologically aligned with him and has ample experience to take over as president, if necessary.  Not sure who that would be, but Sherrod Brown is one possibility.

No.

Men and white people will continue to have advantages in gaining political office.

There will be times when the most popular candidate for office is a white guy.

There would be two circumstances under which he'd pick a white male running mate.

One would be if someone offers something game-changing. For example, if a popular Republican Governor/ Senator agreed to be on a ticket with a white male Democrat.

The other would be if in a few decades, identity politics just isn't that big an issue.

The better question is when will we stop worrying about the race and sex of the people we elect, as if that's consequential? I thought we all still remembered that M.L. King said people should be judged on the content of their character and not the color of their skin, but it's a lesson too many people still have not learned.

Democrats are basically screwed. If they nominate anyone other than a white man then they are accused of playing identity politics for doing so which they do actually. If they only nominate white men then their stupid base who support that nominee because the democratic base just has so much hatred toward white people especially white males.

I guarantee the 2020 ticket includes one woman whether Prez or VP, but after that I think identity politics will play less of a role. It's unlikely in the near future but I bet it will happen in at least one election, further down. If it is, it would be one young (like Obama) and one old (like Biden).

Yes, could very well happen. 2020 options aside from Biden and Bernard: Steve Bullock/Chris Murphy, Chris Murphy/John Hickenlooper or Sherrod Brown/Martin Heinrich.

It's not likely but it's possible in the coming years. Obviously the answer to almost any 'ever' question is yes, eventually. Odds are against it happening in the next two or three cycles though, especially if Bernie Sanders is not the nominee in 2020.

Also the odds drop again if you include white male and straight.

If the democrats want to win again they need two white men because of americas racism and mysoginy
As much as I had no problem voting for a women most of America did, and eight years of a black president has produced a backlash from most white Americans.

Yes, it will be. As far as I'm concerned there are two different paths to victory for Democrats in 2020. One is winning back Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin - the WWC. The other is aiming for minorities and driving up turnout through winning Florida and Michigan, and gunning for Arizona and perhaps Georgia. Two white men helps the former path, which I believe is the more possible of the two.

White men liked Sarah Palin just fine. You don't need two white men on the ticket to get the votes of white men.
