As minority leader? Hopefully Paul Ryan. Tongue

As Democratic leader? I think Tim Ryan would be the best choice. I don't know if House Democrats would agree.

Speaker-again Pelosi coming January 3, 2019, but if I had to chose one it would be Tim Ryan.

I like Pelosi because she's effective and good at her job. What exactly makes Tim Ryan so qualified for the job?

Chris Van Hollen or Xavier Becerra. Just kidding. Crowley seems like the most likely successor given his leadership position and age. Ben Ray Lujan is also well-positioned.

I mostly like the geographical location of his district--it's harder to associate that area with "liberal elitists" than basically any other Democratic district.

I like Crowley too though.

Identity politics.

I'd be fine with Ryan, but I wish better names would arise.

Richard Neal is a good guy. I could certainly see him being a good speaker/minority leader.

He's a white man from a Trump state that would supposedly be hard to attack.

The problem with Ryan is that he could easily be drawn out of a seat in the next redistricting if that area trends any further right.  I think Joaquin Castro would be just about their best possible option for the next Dem Leader.  In the long run, I think Seth Moulton and Kyrsten Sinema would both make great speakers.

In terms of the national optics, it would behoove them not to pick someone from CA, NY, or Chicago.

Mass seems really underrepresented at the leadership level

Speaker: Rep. Mark Pocan (D-WI)
Majority Leader: Rep. Katherine Clark (D-MA)
Majority Whip: Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY)
Caucus Chair: Rep. Linda Sanchez (D-CA)

I think that a combination of the following Democrats would also make good additions to the leadership team:

Rep. Brendan Boyle (D-PA)
Rep. Joyce Beatty (D-OH)
Rep. Reuben Kihuen (D-NV)
Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA)
Rep. Robin Kelly (D-IL)
Rep. Stephanie Murphy (D-FL)
Rep. Joe Kennedy III (D-MA)

I really don't find Crowley or Hoyer appealing and Clyburn is too old...

Crowley would be solid, though I prefer Tim Ryan for obvious geographic reasons.

Beatty does not belong in House leadership, and Moulton makes me want to puke.

Ben Ray Lujan, Linda Sanchez, Joe Crowley, and Cheri Bustos all come to mind.
