The problem with Ryan is that he could easily be drawn out of a seat in the next redistricting if that area trends any further right. I think Joaquin Castro would be just about their best possible option for the next Dem Leader. In the long run, I think Seth Moulton and Kyrsten Sinema would both make great speakers.
In terms of the national optics, it would behoove them not to pick someone from CA, NY, or Chicago.
