11/24/13.  I lost my rock.  Perhaps fittingly it was the first truly cold day in what was the most brutal winter in most peoples' living memory.

All I can think of are the lyrics

"All the flowers that you planted mama, in the backyard...died when you went away..."

I was thinking about posting this to AAD in the Worst Posts thread, but I'm going to say it here.  It's probably a more appropriate place to vent about these sort of things.

Those of you who think that bad election nights are the worst days of your lives - and I mean this to those who are sincere in that judgment - guess what, you haven't seen tragedy.  I was literally sick the night that Trump won, and if it weren't for some self-medication, I would've spent the evening vomiting my brains out.  Sure, it was bad, but try coming home one night to find your father's corpse on the cold garage floor.  Try watching a festering skin disease slowly eat away at one of the only people who's still in your life, without support from extended family.  Try being violently stalked and harassed by total strangers who break into your house or apartment, piss in your pets' cage, walk out with your sht, hock on your front door, and continue to intrude on your rights and your privacy to the point of you losing your mind as well as your dignity.  That's tragedy.  And I in no way mean to discount the many lives that are in danger under Trump's presidency, but when life hits hard, you realize that elections are little more than blood sport that we just sit back and watch.  And, being honest, most of the folks here are capable of living their lives as normal regardless of who's president.

So don't tell us that a bad election was the worst day of your life.  Because if that must be the case, then clearly you've never experienced life.

Thank you for sharing, Scott. I really hope things get a lot better for you soon.

And I agree 100%. Election night losses are like sports losses: They suck, but they are no where near the end of the world or the worst moment's of one's life.

Losing my dad in 1981. I remember walking into a room with my mother sitting on a bed talking to a Priest, and then she told me and my sister that my father had died.

A sudden falling through space without a parachute, it was a horrible experience.

For quite a while as a young boy, I kept thinking he was still alive, but he never re-appeared.

My mother, just short of 94 years old, died last November 10th.  I was able to visit her in the days before she finally passed, from November 1st to November 5th, and those were the worst days of my life.  She suffered a stroke and heart attack from a fall two days before my arrival, and her physicians put her into "comfort care."  Those last two weeks were horrendous, she was in terrible pain and complete disorientation almost the whole time.  She was such a loving, generous person that the last thing on earth she deserved was a prolonged, painful death, but that is what happened to her.  I am certain, of course, that there are far worse things that happen in the world every day, but it was crushing to have to watch that and be able to do nothing.

Can’t say I remember any exact day that stands out, but the worst time of my life was definitely recovering from surgery in mid-December 2010. It was extremely painful physically, and it affected me mentally too.

My family metaphorically died on June 10, 2013. Probably good that nobody actually died, but sometimes I wonder if that might have made things easier. Horrible thing to say, I'm aware.

At the time I'd say June 4th, 2013, when my first girlfriend broke up with me during the middle of our Senior Prom...which was also my birthday.

In hindsight this allowed me to later met my next, and current girlfriend, so things are all better now Smiley

January 24th, 2014 is probably the other one, for separate reasons.

I actually thought that Trump wasn't a total con artist and would be a champion of the common man, and stick it to Wall Street, like he had promised. Trump said he would turn the Republican party into a worker's party. I was dead wrong on that one.

A lot of us bought into his crap. I had some hope that he'd be at least decent economically, but no.

5/27/2015 and 11/03/2017 , the first day was just awful for family reasons that caused someone I used to love dearly turn my entire family against my mom (and also me by default) and the second day was awful because of my teachers falsely diagnosing me as Autistic which then ruined last school year.

Quite the coincidence, mine died the next day. So my worst day was exactly one day after yours.

The demise of the original Big East conference. But fear not, for God shall restore Boston College and Notre Dame to the Catholic conference one day - with old pals Syracuse and Connecticut if He wills it.

Boy, wouldn't Loyola look a lot better than DePaul right now Wink Maybe toss the heathens from Indianapolis.

The people who say the election of Trump was their worst day in their lives, haven't experienced what misery all is. I understand, your candidate didn't won, but let's be honest, HRC was terrible too, and wouldn't have meant all that good to the world either. Political events are never among my worst days in life, unless actually someting happened to me personally (and even if they are, nine eleven is much worse than eleven nine).
