In January, Cory Booker was heckled at a health reform event he did.  These were protestors from the left who were upset about his vote against the Klobuchar-Sanders amendment to allow drug imports from Canada.  Booker offered to meet with the hecklers after the event was over, and looks like a portion of that meeting was taped without his knowledge, and that tape has now been released by one of the protestors:

Note his digs at Sanders at around the 9 minute mark.  Tongue

I'm glad we have this information, but it seems like he agreed to meet with them in good faith and they betrayed that without his knowledge.

On to the main point, he's probably telling them what they want to hear, but Booker's smart and charismatic if nothing else; if he feels the wind changing and goes to a contribution-based system instead of a big-donor one for his reelection, he might be able to start erasing some of the doubts about his integrity.

I think Booker is an irredeemable among the Sanders wing of the party.

It's a sad day for America when most progressive senator isn't progressive enough for a significant chunk of the party.

I mean I definitely get what he's saying but the optics are bad. Hasn't he been trying to win over this wing of the Party ever since that drug import amendment vote?

He's not the most progressive.

My mistake everyone. That was supposed to say "5th most," not most. I don't know if my phone autocorrected that or what.

I humbly accept whatever shaming comes my way due to this unfortunate error.

He's not the most progressive.

A) that.

B ) It's about a mix of progressivism, leftism, and populism (which is why I'm pretty careful to say prog populist when referring to Bernie types). Whatever you think about Booker's attitude on the state's role in improving life, it's really hard to argue that he's a lefty or that he's a populist.

This photo will make a killer meme if he ends up running for the nomination.
