Has the terrorist been identified?
While this is likely a "revenge strike" by a racist, ISIS constantly targets fellow Muslims around the world and this could easily be that as well.
The individual's name has not yet been identified by Law Enforcement, but based upon the live Sky News report (Hardly a Leftist News organization by any standards), the attacker went off on an Anti-Muslim diatribe, and angry individuals watching this assault tackled the driver, and the local Imam of the Mosque intervened to ensure that no physical harm occurred to the assailant.
Meanwhile, the reports that there were two additional assailants that fled, but details are still sketchy.
We have yet to know if this was a "Lone Wolf" terrorist incident targeting Muslims in the UK, or possibly connected to various Neo-Fascist organizations tied to active Hate Groups that have been operating for decades in the UK...
(Edit): Sweet Meteor O' Death---- The whole assumption and fear thing regarding ISIS is a bit OTT IMHO....
This happened literally right next door to a Tube Stop, where my Sister was only Ten minutes late from potentially getting on a Train when the London Subway bombings happened years back....
One of her best mates lost her Dad, and his body has not been recovered....
Still, the English are stoic regardless, after having dealt with so much, and particularly within London proper.
Although this is likely not the proper place to mention the "Pink Elephant" in the room, the George W. Bush elective decision to invade and occupy Iraq, effectively destablized the entire region, and indirectly caused the rise of ISIS and the Syrian Civil War....
Sigh....
Lost a friend in the Iraq War, so maybe I am slightly biased on this topic, but in general there were no major Terrorist assaults from "ISIS" in Europe until well after the Iraq War.
Now, we have a dramatic increase in low level violence against Muslims in the US & UK, as well as an increased level of violent attacks throughout Europe at the hands of small cells as part of a classic Leninist strategy to "revolutionize" a minority community following a backlash from the "perceived oppressors"
The strength of Western Democracies is based upon the tolerance and diversities of our societies....
We stand strong against political violence and religious intolerance from whatever direction it comes from.
What Political Leaders do (Or should do) is condemn any violent assault on Democratic values, regardless of where these assaults come from.
This should equally include Nationalists, White Supremacists, and Fascist individuals and political organizations as well.
There is an old saying that I first heard living in Germany as a Young Man: "German Justice is blind in the Right Eye".....
