i will be making a more in depth talk about it later today. if you have any questions, feel free to ask. with the few stances of the real LP, thres always room for us to add some of our own views during the making of our bylaws and platform.

If I join, can we change the name? Cheesy

What are Siege and Emsworth doing wrong?

They have left a sour taste in my mouth for a variety of reasons. Although, I think it's best I dont discuss it, because I dont feel like debating over the issue. Of course, if I do leave the ILP, it may not be for long, as this new party may not live for long.

Let me guess, Prostitution and AA?

No party will be an exact ideological match for its members, ever, unless we start having lots of one/two man parties. I also think that having honest disagreements over policy does not mean that  their arguments are directed against you as a person.

Actually, the party ended up agreeing with me on affirmative action. Or at least, we came to a compromise I could handle.  But anyways, if I leave, it wont be because I hate you guys, because I dont. It's not because you hate me, which I don't think you do. It's because, I want to try out LiberalPA's idea, because it is a closer match to the Independent Liberal Party. But right now, the ILP is too much of a "big tent" party for a place that has so many parties.

I would guess that the President's stance on prostitution would be the one Earl finds most objectionable. I can't really think of anything else.

He also came out and lambasted Belinda Stronach, one of my favourite politicians. Plus- I feel he has been a weak President, and by that I mean fairly inactive. I rarely see any of his posts anywhere any more.

Unfortunately i agree 100% with this.

Why is that unfortunate?

This is by circumstance rather than by design I think. Fact is that the more socialist members of the forum (the economically and socially left wing) have been without a party truly of their beliefs since the death of the Democrats - the ILP was always meant to take the centre ground on economic issues, and it did. We sorta modified this to being big tent on economic issues so as to give the socialists a home. The FLP of course does not take positions on social issues, whilst maintaining an economic leftist agenda, so it also picked up many of the socialist members, but again this wasn't a true home as a socialist party would be.

Well, you see my dilemna then. I'm not quite a socialist- I'm a scoial democrat. And, I feel we need a social democratic party. One that is socially liberal and economically left wing.

Why don't you just name it the United Left? I always thought that was a great name unlike the Light Party that just sounds totally gay. Tongue

I agree totally. I even told LiberalPA last night that I felt the name was gay Wink
