Could he become the Bernie Sanders of 2020? Bernie was relatively unknown until 2015.

Honestly, its too early to tell, i have problems with threads like these. I would rather put these kind of questions in a thread for long term thinking. economic and social changes can shape the style of the race a lot. I think maybe Lincoln might have a chance (But it would be low Because of higher quality and more better known candidates) if he is placed without Bernie Sanders in the race.

The second part of your question tells me you have no idea how the political system works. Rhode island has so few delegates and is so far in front of the primary season, that this state will have very little influence in keeping Chaffee afloat.

The only way i can see this man winning is by possibly going on the offensive by spewing a skew of identity(that's probably not the right word) REGIONAL politics at the Midwest by shouting at the working class whites that have suffered under the democratic party and maybe flip WI and MI in the presidential Election and use all over the Midwest during the primary.

I think this might be a more interesting race since it is a moderate type democrat going against president Trump. His moderate stance might pull some votes away from him if the economy and social values continues to uphold during the 2020 campaign.
