So basically my family had a strange habit while I was growing up that I could never understand. My parents ate like savages. They could never just wait for the food to cool down, and so we'd always start dinner when it was still really hot, where we'd have to blow on it. Obviously this resulted in a burned mouth or two. I could never seem to shame them into waiting. They know they couldn't justify it, but they kept doing it anyway.

I grew out of that habit pretty quickly and I let my food cool, but my mom still doesn't and while she won't admit it and I know damn well she is welding food to the top of her mouth.

The reason I thought of this was that last night, I sat down to have dinner with my mom, and I should have known that if she just started eating, it would be super hot. It didn't look hot, but it was hot. You can guess how it went from there.

Pretty much only when I'm cooking Tony's pizza, which I haven't bought in weeks. It's always guaranteed when I do, though.

If your food is hot enough to burn your mouth, you're probably doing something wrong.

Very rarely. I hate foods that are hot (not spicy-just high temperature) and foods that are hard. I like softer foods that are easy on my teeth and are relatively room temperature.

WAY too often. Especially with microwavable breakfast burritos/sandwiches I've been relying on in the morning for the last few weeks.

Rarely. Unless it's hot chocolate or I haven't had a thing to eat for the whole day anyway.

If your food is hot enough to burn your mouth, you're probably doing something wrong.

I mean you need to cook things, buddy. You need to kill that bacteria. It will get in there and you will spray out both ends. You will clutch the shower curtain railing, wheezing, crying, begging for anything but this. You will hate it so much you will feel a rekindling of something in your heart that allowed you to believe in your childhood religion.

I mean, unless you were eating cereal or whatever.

I'm well aware of how to cook things; it's just that I'm able to wait so that my mouth doesn't get burnt.

I'm more often the victim of coffee ... which happened within 30 seconds of getting to the bank today.

Only when eating pizza and baguettes.

Because I hardly eat pizza or frozen stuff, virtually never.

Somewhere between 2 weeks and a month, I'd guess. I bite it more often than I burn it, and that's way worse.

This question could as well have been worded "how often do you eat oven pizza?" The answer is once a month or so.

Hm, that would be two/three times for me and I never burned my mouth.

This is really ironic coming from you.

I guess it is true:  America is truly an immigrant culture.

To add, it's the worst part about drinking so much coffee in a week (I usually have 3 a day, so burning is inevitable).
