When talking about possible presidential candidates, everybody's mentioning Montana Governor Steve Bullock. But why does nobody think of another Montana Democrat? U.S. Senator Jon Tester for instance?
It's so much harder to become a senator in a deep red than a governor, which speaks in Tester's favor, who is likely to win his third senatorial election in a row.
Plus - how should I put it - his appearance may appeal to certain kinds of Americans, particularly to Trump voters, more than Bullock's does...

(By the way, when looking at Tester's electoral history, I realized how lucky he was and will be to run in the perfect years...)

My guess is that people are waiting to see how a guy who has won two statewide elections with relatively narrow margins does in the midterms.

Tester's people don't want to nationalize the race, so they're not going to play him up as a potential presidential contender.

People talking about potential 2020 nominees might also want to avoid mentioning someone who may very well lose.

My dream ticket would be Warren/Tester.
Bullock doesn't look like he could appeal to Trump supporters.
