Even if Mississippi remains a solidly Republican state, Republicans won't surpass Democrats in winning the state's electoral votes until 2084 (2104 if you count the DRs and all of the Southern splinter groups that MS has voted for as Democrats).

You can see why they say "as Maine goes, so goes the nation. We usually back the winner, and if we don't, we usually back the winner the next cycle (the only exceptions are the 30s and 40s when we were still a steadfastly Republican state and the early 2000s when we were a steadfastly Democratic state).
