I am shocked and absolutely appalled that our own citizens would cause this kind of chaos in our nation. I have called the Governor, and am requesting a special meeting of officials about the NLLC, and I have a statement available on my office thread.

Emmanuel Macron assassinated on day of protest against EU-More questions then answers as world mourns this horrific tragedy
One a day of Nationalist protests across Europe, a currently unknown set of attackers attacked Macrons limousine killing the French President. Macron Emmanuel Macron who was elected earlier this year in a landslide has been a strong pro European voice who was the target of many far right nationalists and the Russian aligned group Free the People. However investigators aren't ruling anything out saying we are looking into all possible leads. For their part the kremlin has flat out denied any involvement into today's assassination saying we would never consider interfering in another country's sovereignty in such a way to cause grave destruction.

About other figures

I stated in my confirmation hearing that I would like to re-introduce other figures (various economic indices, population numbers, etc.) to the game. To the best of my knowledge, detailed figures were published regularly pre-reset, but have not been published consistently post-reset. Because of this, I  will start out with RL numbers, and then adjust them accordingly as time progresses.

Ultimately, I would like to develop a mostly non-arbitrary methodology for calculating such figures. Ideally, numbers would be adjusted by generating random numbers from a probability distribution, with things like legislation, registration and activity trends affecting specific factors in the probability density function. This isn't finished at the moment, but I am steadily making progress. The main difficulty is ensuring that the trends are scaled down so that the changes in the actual figures are somewhat realistic. If this doesn't work, I may try a more subjective methodology.

I'm also starting to think that I should publish regional/federal crime statistics, due to the introduction of some gun safety legislation.

I'm really glad to hear this. One of the more frustrating aspects of governance in past years has been the seemingly arbitrary manner in which employment numbers are adjusted. An established and objective formula will go a long way toward fixing this problem.

Due to the deregistration of cxsmith, a special election for his seat in the Atlasian House of Representatives is being held from August 4 through August 6. The only Atlasian who has declared candidacy is the Federalist potus2036. If he wins this election, the House's composition will be 5-3-1 Fed-Lab-ACP. As a side note, Peebs is the only person from the June federal election's Labor slate that has lasted a full term in office; OneJ and cxsmith have deregistered, and Alpha moved to the Senate soon after his election.

Since this is not a contested election, an separate thread seems a bit out of order, so I am posting my spreadsheet and map here, as the GM's office has occasionally been used to report on elections before. I have updated the spreadsheet with the latest registration numbers. Regional and party-based turnout numbers are on the side.

North Korea continues nuclear weapons testing as the wold nervously watches
Defying economic sanctions from several G20 countries North Korea is counting ballistic missiles testing. The republic fired two test missiles this week with both landing in the Pacific Ocean well out of the way of any land masses. North Korean supreme leader Cho Pu Il called the testing "a tremendous success", stating that once again "We can not be trifled with no matter what others do. We will not be dismayed and in the end we will conquer".  World leaders of all stripes have condemned the attacks with South Korean President Moon Jae UN calling the launch deeply disturbing and a real threat that needs to be taken seriously. meanwhile members of the CIA have stated that as early as next year they believe North Korea may have the capability to hit mainland Atlasia, and the Republic can probably already reach Hawaii and much of Asia.

We can also update that Mexico has decided to put Sanctions on countries that do trade with North Korea.

Explosion at Lincoln Government Townhall leaves 43 dead 53 injured (29 critical)
A Lincoln Town hall  on small business development in Providence Rhode Island  was the latest scene of attack by the NLLC. Despite having their leader Jason Martin behind bars and many of their members wanted by law enforcement; the NLLC has once again carried out an attack on Lincoln. Over 200 people attended the event when Witnesses describe a large explosion before hearing screams come from the back of the conference room. In a statement by the NLLC deputy leade Henry Tafte  stated that despite setbacks the NLLC will fight on until they get full separatism for Lincoln.

On a related note we can note that police foiled an assassination attempt of Linvoin speaker LOK, police arrested an individual carrying a concealed weapon connected to the NLLC who was attempting to enter a concert last night in New York that the Lincoln speaker was attending.

A notice to all Atlasians: I am reverting to weekly updates for unemployment, as opposed to the every-4-days updates that we have had for the past few months. This means that the next update will come out on August 10.

Be aware that the probability that unemployment will go up or down in a particular region will now be heavily influenced by several activity indices that I have developed for both the regional and federal governments. Unemployment will also be influenced by in-game population; for instance, extreme population growth in a particular region will make a rise in unemployment more likely. Hopefully this will provide an incentive against packing certain regions full of players before an election. Tongue Any significant legislation that goes into effect between unemployment updates will also be factored in at the discretion of the GM department.

August 10th will also see Atlasian regional/federal population numbers, CPI annual percent change, national/regional GDP figures, and gold/oil prices. Some of these numbers will be updated on a monthly basis.

NLLC leader calls for Atlasia unconditional surrender or else
Newly appointed NLLC leader Henry Tafte has called for the republics unconditional surrender or else; stating that the NLLC would continue to inflict great pain on both Lincoln and Atlasia. Tafte wants the following demands:

-The release of all NLLC inmates
-A section of land in New England that would be their own and separate from Atlasia or independence for Lincoln.
-100 billion in cash

In a press release Tafte said "we will continue our attscks until our demands our met. You haven't stopped us yet and you won't in the future."

On an related note we can report that 2 NLLC members have been arrested and charged in connection with Sunday's attack in Providence.
