Unless there are objections or amendments offered we will be moving to a final vote.
I object. I'd like to hear Mr. DFL explain this bill.
Thank you, First Minister.
Atlasia is woefully under-prepared to deal with current job loss and displacement due to technological shifts, let alone the possible earthquakes we will see with upcoming automation taking over key industries. Economists estimate anywhere between 25 and 60% of our workforce has the potential to be automated within the next few decades. If these respected economics are even partially right, we are in for a massive economic upheaval that we as a nation and region are not ready for in the slightest.
This act would establish a program to help current long-term displaced and unemployed workers, as well as workers at risk of displacement receive retraining, counseling, and possible relocation with the help of our regional government, as our current resources in my opinion are simply not enough. Under this act, approved educational centers and counselors would also receive funding to negate additional stress these resources will face, especially in areas where services are lagging behind demand.
This act is not a fix-all for worker displacement, but I believe it is a step in the right direction for us to pursue a more aggressive police to ensure we aren't leaving our workers behind, and setting our region up for turmoil both economically and politically.
As stated earlier, if there are any questions, concerns, or clarifications, I'm all ears.
