Someone on CNN apparently said that Sessions might go to DHS. Not sure how much of that is speculation, since I heard about the report secondhand, but it would certainly be an interesting way to solve the DoJ debacle.

This game of musical chairs is going to end with Ben Carson as president.

God help us !

While I wouldn't have said it even five months ago, Ben Carson would be an improvement.

This whole time, you thought he was sleeping, that he was uncharismatic.

He was just waiting for the time to strike.

Kris Kobach to DHS, and then commence deportations.
I suppose that would save Kobach the humiliation of being in charge of a commission on voter fraud that if it does it's work honestly and competently will show that voter fraud he claims is rampant is actually rare and that GOP scaremongering is at best misplaced, if one charitably assumes it wasn't intended all along to depress votes from non-GOP friendly demographic groups.

Can Kelly serve as DHS secretary and Chief of Staff? I only ask because he probably could in a parliamentary democracy.

LOL. Trump has zero clue how to govern. He hasn't even management skills.

A general who has no political experience should not be Chief of Staff. You need somebody with political skills in that position. A general is the wrong guy for this task.

He was the commandants liaison to the House and then the legislative liaison before he was a four star. He has experience with DC. You don't get to full general without it.

McCaul would be an outstanding choice, so obviously we'll get some hack like Kobach and have to listen to krazen's sh*t

Although, I think McCaul might be a choice because there's a chance for his district to get severely more competitive, more here.

So a DHS position might be a helicopter rescue out of an impossible district.

I'm not sure exactly how fast that office will be filled, as we all know about Trump's never-ending vacancies issues, but if Texas is to get a new Congressional map, it won't be happening for what I imagine will be months. I'm not even sure the trial over the 2013 interim maps has concluded yet, and there still has to be a redraw process which will take time.

That being said, DHS doesn't seem like an office Trump would leave empty for that long. So all I can say is, I sure hope he picks McCaul. At least right now, that district doesn't seem so R-leaning that it is guaranteed safe in a special election, at least given what we have seen so far.

This was my first thought as well. Not sure what the party benches there are like, but it would be nice to have another chance for a special election win before the midterms (as well as McCaul being a decent pick, relative to the other options).

You should deport yourself to Somalia

Even with this Senate, could kobach get confirmed?

I mean this is an even tougher pitch than DeVos

Kelly is trying to bring discipline to the White House. But that's impossible without eventually saying "no" to the spoiled brat in the Oval Office about something.  And when that happens, this will be one more stone in the bucket that sinks Kelly, too.

Basically this. Kelly seems to be a non-nonsense hardass who hates any kind of bullsh**t going on around him and who wants to conduct business in the most orderly fashion possible. Donald Trump on the other hand is the very personfication of chaos and bullsh**t. Trump and Kelly are bound to clash sooner or later.

Kelly is a terrible, anti-liberty DHS Secretary.
