This is interesting... What do you suppose Trump, or Kim Jong-Un will say about this news?

"South Korea expects more provocative acts by North Korea in mid-October" - Reuters https://www.reuters.com/article/us-northkorea-missiles-southkorea/south-korea-expects-more-provocative-acts-by-north-korea-in-mid-october-idUSKCN1C3073

"South Korea expects more provocative acts by North Korea next month, to coincide with the anniversary of the founding of the North Korean communist party and China’s all-important Communist Party Congress.

During a meeting with President Moon Jae-in on Thursday, national security adviser Chung Eui-yong said he expected Pyongyang to act around Oct. 10 and 18, but gave no details."

Either another ICBM launch or potentially the hydrogen bomb test in the Pacific (most likely not an H-bomb but a boosted fission bomb). If it's the latter, I expect things to go from 7 (where we are now) to 9 or 10 very quickly.

Since you seem to be our resident expert on North Korea and this region in general, how do you think China, and more importantly Jinping would react if they start making trouble during the Congress?

He's been busy supporting his fellow white supremacists by whining about NFL players.

Tillerson says the US is in direct communication with NK but still predicates any meaningful talks with them on their denuclearization. https://mobile.nytimes.com/2017/09/30/world/asia/us-north-korea-tillerson.html

That will never happen. It all seems last ditch effort to me.

Looks like you were right.

Tillerson has failed to stop the Twit-in-Chief, who is so stupid/demented that he doesn't understand that Korea had three different leaders in the last twenty-five years.

(Republicans, Turmp and his actions are your responbsibility. Both because you voted for him, and because you refuse to remove him even when the evidence of gross mental incapability is staring you in the face.)

Hopefully the generals who are calling the shots in the so-called Trump administration will distract President Spoiled Brat with some pretty pictures or a Trump Is Amazing storybook and prevent war.

"Thats it" for what? Absolutely nothing happening. Everytime Trump tweets something, we dont need to freak out and prepare for war. Its getting kind of annoying.

Edits: Besides, South Korea will never give us the go-ahead to attack, atleast not under Moon. In fact, if we do attack North Korea without South Korean consent, they'd probably expel the troops we have stationed there and shut down our military bases.

It wouldn't matter anyway since a US attack would be so massive, NK would be for all intents and purposes not a state anymore so you would have a unified Korea or a Chinese province of the former NK. Also, Moon has been seen as weak by his own staff lately so they would pressure him to side with the US. I emphasize with Moon as I don't want war either but the route open to us for avoiding that outcome is rapidly closing.

No offence but you've been predicting imminent war for months. I really dont think war is ever going to happen unless North Korea starts it, and they're not going to. The new normal is inflammatory rhetoric between both sides, but thats it.

I have been analyzing this via what I can see, some of which I can't post here. It doesn't look good on both sides and the rash rhetoric on both sides but more so from Trump doesn't help the situation. So we will see but I am more pessimistic on this one.

As you've repeatedly said for months.

If he's going to attack NK, just do it and don't talk about it on Twitter for weeks in advance. I seriously doubt any kind of attack is being planned. He's just running his mouth and squandering what little credibility he has left for no reason.

There's really no big difference between how he and Kim are handling this situation. It's pretty telling where we've reached the point that you can say that about a US president. They're just tossing theatrical, empty threats back and forth, although at least in the case of Kim it kind of makes sense given the position his country is in.

If you're going to attack North Korea, why not go all the way and drop a nuke on Pyongyang?

Russia Provides New Internet Connection to North Korea

"A major Russian telecommunications company appears to have begun providing an Internet connection to North Korea. The new link supplements one from China and will provide back-up to Pyongyang at a time the US government is reportedly attacking its Internet infrastructure and pressuring China to end all business with North Korea."

Good article by a reporter on his trip to NK, observations, etc. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/05/opinion/sunday/nuclear-north-korea.html

A prediction of an October 9th test by Yong Suk Lee, deputy assistant director of the CIA's Korea Mission Center: https://www.usnews.com/news/politics/articles/2017-10-04/cia-official-predicts-north-korean-provocation-on-columbus-day

If this test occurs it would be the morning of the 10th in the US or late on the 10th if they test a day late due to the 12 and half hour time zone difference (using US EST).

Wouldn't it be the other way around? NK is 8.5 hours ahead of GMT, so late on the 9th in the US would be the morning of the 10th in NK.

Yes, fixed it in mine.

Pyongyang (North Korea)                    Monday, October 9, 2017 at 8:00:00 pm PYT UTC+8:30 hours
Washington DC (USA - District of Columbia) Monday, October 9, 2017 at 7:30:00 am EDT UTC-4 hours
Corresponding UTC (GMT)                    Monday, October 9, 2017 at 11:30:00

If the test happens, then Trump will likely want to declare war.

I'm on the pro-Russia side on this one. They have called for the issue to be resolved peacefully, and they are right.

Calm before the storm remark by Trump could be an indication of a strike order if NK does indeed do its 9 October test. News sites are reporting that the next test will be an ICBM that has a range to hit the US West Coast. http://ewn.co.za/2017/10/06/north-korea-preparing-long-range-missile-test-ria-cites-russian-lawmaker

I bet you its just Trump talking out of his butt like always and we shouldn't read too much into it.

Honestly, I do not think anything will happen ever. I know some are worried, it's fine to worry but, nothing will happen. Sure there will be some tough talk between The Donald and Rocket Man...maybe a couple missile tests here and there....in the end there will be no nuclear war. No side wants it.
