k, but it doesn't change the fact making it illegal to challenge science is a horrible idea

     Really, a good idea should be able to triumph on its own merits in the public sphere. If global warming is such a grave threat, then it should be possible to move people to oppose it. Banning an opposing idea is a sign of weakness; that is, those who oppose that idea do not have the means to argue against it and therefore resort to a vulgar display of power to achieve their ends.
