Romney is an incumbent president running with a good economy against a far-left extremist who has a list of scandals a mile long. Furthermore, the fact that he beat Obama means he did something right in 2012, so another point for him.

President Mitt Romney: 51.5%, 414 electoral votes
Senator Bernie Sanders: 41.8%, 124 electoral votes

Fun fact: I’ve only spent about a week and a half out of the country my entire life. That how patriotic I am.

I don’t see anything wrong with this.
You implied that international travel is un-patriotic.

How often was George Washington outside of North America?

So John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and Robert Livingston, each of whom spent years outside North America, and were four of the Committee of Five that drafted the Declaration of Independence were unpatriotic?

Look who hath pierced the veil of thinly disguised sarcasm! Who could have guessed that I did not actually doubt the patriotism of our soldiers at Normandy! (Though Jefferson’s patriotism is perhaps worth questioning)

Thanks for posting directly into the thread.

It’s been a while since I read up on the Founders, but I recall him being quite seditious whenever he happened to be out of power. Whenever not tasked with the responsibilities of sctuakkyngivernong, he liked to talk, in an almost knee jerk fashion, aboutbthe need to rebel against the federal government. The Virginia and Kentucky resolutions laid the foundation for the Civil War and a host of other issues.

If you arrest Nazis you're automatically an FF. That's why Stalin is held in such high regard today.

Because the erasing of history makes us doomed to repeat it.

Why the hell do any of y'all care about this.

You're getting your labor laws smashed, your kids's school funding cut, your air and water polluted, your pensions gambled on risk-free by a bunch of vultures, and money that should go into your public services funneled instead into the hands of rich people who think y'all are a bunch of dumbass rubes. And based on the amount of mental energy you people spend talking about kids knocking over a statue instead of any of the above, I'd say they're probably right.

If any party is the party of "identity politics" it's the Republicans. They have become the party of white identity and white nationalism.

If any party is the party of "identity politics" it's the Republicans. They have become the party of white identity and white nationalism.

We have two major parties in this country. One of them draws about 90% of its support from members of a single group. If you're going to argue that the other major party that is the party of identity politics, you have some explaining to do.

Compared to either Democrats or independent voters, the Republican Party is more dissimilar to the make-up of the country as a whole. The same is true when you consider religion, ancestry, grandparents nationality, and so on.

Democrats have a substantial amount of representation from people of almost every category in this country, including all of those categories that are also common among independents and Republicans. In contrast, Republicans are highly reliant on a much more homogeneous base.

Yes, somebody is doing the identity politics, but something tells me that it's not the party that appeals to a broader set of demographics.
The fact that the GOP attracts a majority of the white vote doesn't make it a "white nationalist party." Whites are much less loyal to the GOP than every other major racial group is loyal to the dems.

Bad move by the ACLU. They've just left my Holiday card list.

The NRA is a terrorist organization and therefore does not deserve first amendment rights...just like Al-Qaeda or ISIS.

Click for context.

I don't know. I was optimistic about Wisconsin until recently. I think Scott Walker is running scared and will do anything in his power to win a third term as Wisconsin's governor. He and his GOP scapegoats will use the porn incident of one of Evers' teachers against his campaign.

So, I vote: Wisconsin

Just a note: Even though Democrats outvoted Republicans in WI on Tuesday, they also outvoted them in the 2014 primaries and Scott Walker still won.

Every day when I look at the approval thread and a lot of other posts on here, I notice that some posters seem to be pining for Trump's approval ratings to go up.

My question is, what exactly would be so appealing about a rise in Trump's numbers? His approvals rising by any significant amount (i.e. more than a rise of a few points) would likely only be possible with a horrendous 9/11 style mass destruction terrorist attack or Pearl Harbor type attack by a foreign government causing a rally-around-the-flag effect. Attacks against America such as Pearl Harbor in 1941 and 9/11 in 2001 were pretty terrible times to live through as an American citizen, and I'd think most people are old enough to at least remember the latter.

It just seems more and more to me that Trump supporters are rooting for misery, failure, and mass scale death of their fellow citizens in America simply because they like Trump that much. That doesn't make you much of a citizen if you ask me.

Trump supporters, why do you hate America and want your fellow citizens to die?

Every day when I look at the approval thread and a lot of other posts on here, I notice that many posters seem to be pining for Trump's approval ratings to plummet into the 20s a la Nixon or GWB at the end of their administrations. Stability in the polls seems to frustrate people, as if their lives are made worse by Trump's approval remaining in the 40s.

My question is, what exactly would be so appealing about a collapse in Trump's numbers? His approvals falling to catastrophic levels would likely result in congressional gridlock, economic downfall, and a weaker position on the world stage. Eras such as 1974 and 2008 were pretty terrible times to live through as an American citizen, and I'd think most people are old enough to at least remember the latter.

It just seems more and more to me that Trump detractors are rooting for misery and failure in America simply because they hate the party in control that much. That doesn't make you much of a citizen if you ask me.
