I think equal pay is an issue that needs to be confronted, however I've always felt that controlling wealth inequality is pointless. It penalizes those who have become successful. Single payer systems don't usually work well, look at the NHS in the UK. A toddler is now dead because of it, and there are probably thousands more that didn't make waves to the US. Do I think we should have public healthcare for those who are below the poverty line? Absolutely. Do I think we should force everyone onto a government program? No.

So not being a socialist is absurd and ignorant. Good to know.

The bold is absolutely absurd and ignorant.

Kingpoleon's posts are bad in subtle, artful ways. Look in awe as he uses two separate bad arguments to make an unclear point.

Just a reminder that Roosevelt could easily have ordered the death of all Japanese-Americans, and over fifty percent of the country supported wiping out everyone of Japanese blood.

At least Reagan's reaction to such a threat wasn't: "Jail all the gays!!!"

Just because you don't understand what two entirely unrelated points have to do with the conclusion doesn't make my argument dumb - you might not just be clever enough to understand it.

Who might run in the likely special election in 2018 or 2020? Greg Stanton, Jeff DeWit, Martha McSally, Jan Brewer, Doug Ducey, Ruben Gallego?

Eww, Jan Brewer, she looks like a discolored sun dried tomato that was beaten up by John Cena, she has more wrinkles than a darn prune.

Could've seen that coming. Fox tends to hire attractive women. Unlike MSNBC with Rachel Maddow looking like a 14 year old boy

dead0man does his best "Racist drunk uncle at last Thanksgiving he's ever invited to" routine:

Mexicans have better food, are better dressed, work much harder....wait, this is starting to make me feel uncomfortable.  I better post this before I start second guessing myself and delete it.

Wah! I don't want medical coverage for everyone like every other country in the western world! Pathetic. Hey even your idol (lol) Joe Manchin has contemplated getting on board.
I'm actually starting to think that ProgressiveCanadian is a right-wing sockpuppet trying to make the left look immature and beyond stupid.

You're doing a good job of that for the center, not that the other centrist posters needed help.

There's literally nothing wrong with that post except it hurts your feelings.

If alcohol were to completely go away, 90% of society's problems would be instantly cured.  In an ideal world, alcohol should be illegal, but I think that we would have had to do that in the 1700s or 1800s and that the negative externalities of doing that today would outweigh the benefits.

Came here to post this ... glad I don't have these types of friends, LOL.

Isn't this guy like 15 or something? It's a natural view for some kid who hasn't had his first beer yet.

This....

I felt similar to ExtremeConservative when I was 15
or so and now it's some 30 years later and have a very different POV....

Would be happy to buy any Atlas poster that turns 21 their first beer if they are in the neighborhood and discuss politics, precinct level results from various states/cities/counties, and all sorts of other Atlas Geek-o-Rama that we wrangle about on a daily basis.

Not a big fan of Prohibition policies at all, since addicts and alcoholics will always find a means to obtain their drug of choice... Not even going to mention the whole black market deal that comes with these types of policy positions and causes all sorts of violence to secure illegal markets, and won't even go into the benefit to State/County/Local governments when it comes to taxable revenue generated in the form of "Sin Taxes" on items such as Cigs, Alcohol, and Recreational MJ (In States where it is legal).

Trying to legislate public morality has always been a bad idea within the United States, on so many items, which is part of reason I consider myself a Social Libertarian.

I am 21 and am proud to say that I have never had a drink and never will.  I think a few posters mix me up with some younger posters for some reason.

Possibly because of the extremely naive and two-dimensional worldview?

An ineffective ban, to be sure. If she were the deciding vote, Haley would support it. However, we can't risk hurting our relationship with Saudi Arabia, Iraq, India, China, and Japan at this time.

Beat me to it.

Quite possibly the most horrifying and gut-wrenching post I have seen in my two and a half years on Atlas:

PAC 12: You don't have a heart if you don't like Wazzu.

You talking s**t about the Cougs, Crumpets?

But what if it leads to women throwing themselves down staircases if Roe is overturned

That's on the women that throw themselves down staircases.

People jumped out of buildings because they went from being worth paper millions to being under water, financially during the Depression.  That was on them, too.

What a c**t.

I know this is a hot take but I honestly feel this way: When I find out someone owns a gun, after everything that's happened over the years, I cannot help but hate them.

Then hate me all you want. I can promise you no one cares one bit that someone from an obscure Internet forum hates them.

I say this from the bottom of my heart: I hope you are mentally well and are not a danger to yourself or anyone else.

Same to you.

Well the nice thing is if I ever snap and feel compelled to murder 3% of my town in the span of 10 minutes, I don't have the means to do it.

Do you own a vehicle?? The recent attacks in New York and across Europe shows how dangerous they can be.

You know what? I apologize for my earlier remarks, I DO hope you blow your brains out with that gun you love so much.

Go ahead and give me the death points TG, It's well worth it

Glad someone saved it

The fact that you put such a reasonable and commonplace claim in here shows the overreach of this whole thing. Senator Moore is happening dude, whether we like it or not. Your America's chickens have come home to roost.

I agree, of course, that Senator Roy Moore is indeed an inevitability. The absurdity displayed here is the insinuation that there was any reasonable justification for labelling someone as absurdly despicable as Roy Moore as anything other than an HP of the highest order, especially since the last person in the quote change is a self-described "libertarian".

Regardless, the idea that one should not personally believe transparently true allegations without the 'christening' of said charges by the American criminal justice system, the least credible institution in the country, is ridiculous.
No. You're ridiculous - there are plenty of things that are "transparently true" that effectively get ignored by a partisan and corporate controlled media, with an equal amount of stories that are transparently false that get blown up into larger stories.

Take a look at the media's coverage of the Rand Paul attack, which was "just a minor dispute" between neighbors until the actual witnesses came forward to dispute that accounts of the "minor dispute." Then there was Charlottesville, in which a few purple haired pansexual college pond scum types decided to literally in unison declare their account of events as the absolute truth, and the media was quick to follow up by parroting these lies.
Of course, the hysterical reaction of many of Atlas's bottom barrel posters to Donna Brazille coming forward about the confirmed collusion between our intelligence services and the Clinton campaign to undermine Trump and Bernie's anti-globalist revolt also shows the empire of lies that America has become.

It's quite funny seeing a group of corporate directed "centrists"/"liberals"/"common sense conservatives" all attempting to suppress dissenting opinions, through literal violence at times, calling Trump a "fascist."

Just go ahead and put this part in the Reservation

I always hated Al Franken especially since Norm Coleman actually won but besides that he needs to resign!
You were seven
I was actually 6 on election turned 7 the next day. But that’s besides the point Al Franken is not the true senator of Minnesota, just like how I’m not sure If JFK was actually really elected president since there was over voting in the democrat areas of New Jersey Texas and Illinois.

What in the literal f**k? Can we please get rid of him already?

No way! He's so damn weird and creepy that I actually find him amusing.

Strong disagree. He's both a creep AND more unforgivable, forcing his own meme.

Wow. Roll Eyes Don't even try to pretend this cuts both ways. Democrats, or at least most Democrats I know, would never support or vote for one of their own if there was a chance that person was a sexual predator. Meanwhile, a huge number of Republicans wouldn't care if their guy raped children so long as he pedals all the racist, sexist, warmongering nonsense they love to hear.
At this point he isn’t exactly wrong

The simple truths mine is that way. ->

Stated like true, blind partisan hacks! Wink

Seriously, are all pretending we don't have a million "HERE IS WHY AL FRANKEN RESIGNING IS BAD" threads? Or how the only well-known rape accuser that's publicly acceptable to call a liar is Juanitta Broadrick?
