Almost every post is talking about the loony speaker being sexually attractive.

Straight guys can think girls are hot, chill out.

My point was that it was practically every post in the thread. And that its kind of pigish to see a lunatic spouting insane nonsense and only think "dat's hot". There's a line between being sexually attracted to people and being a pig.

^ Why wouldn't you?  Those places are beautiful and fun.

They are unlikely to have the type of bars and clubs I go to, probably not any shows of my music, and not that many Ingress portals. The only exception is Phoenix but even for that there are better locations for all those things, even in the region. Also the weather is miserable.

I think equal pay is an issue that needs to be confronted, however I've always felt that controlling wealth inequality is pointless. It penalizes those who have become successful. Single payer systems don't usually work well, look at the NHS in the UK. A toddler is now dead because of it, and there are probably thousands more that didn't make waves to the US. Do I think we should have public healthcare for those who are below the poverty line? Absolutely. Do I think we should force everyone onto a government program? No.

So not being a socialist is absurd and ignorant. Good to know.

Absolutely!

Seconded

Kingpoleon's posts are bad in subtle, artful ways. Look in awe as he uses two separate bad arguments to make an unclear point.

Just a reminder that Roosevelt could easily have ordered the death of all Japanese-Americans, and over fifty percent of the country supported wiping out everyone of Japanese blood.

At least Reagan's reaction to such a threat wasn't: "Jail all the gays!!!"

Just because you don't understand what two entirely unrelated points have to do with the conclusion doesn't make my argument dumb - you might not just be clever enough to understand it.

Saved. I love him so much.

I mean, IIRC the origin of that meme was a Macron aide saying that a particular proposal or some such was too complex for a short(?) TV interview.

California Sen. Kamala Harris is married to a white man, Douglas Emhoff. Will that be an issue with some black voters, especially the South, etc.? Is she "authentic"?

http://www.brides.com/story/kamala-harris-husband-douglas-emhoff

Barack Obama's mother was white. Was that an issue for black voters?

Black people are protective of black women. Some may think of her husband as a tool or a interloper.

Bronz stop.

"Agree with me or you're a Nazi sympathizer"

There are comments like this floating out there and people wonder why political discourse in this country isn't worth the tissue going down the toilet with it.

Apparently declaring counter-protesters equally bad to the white supremacists (one of which murdered someone) they're speaking out isn't a sign of sympathy.

Honestly PiT really should learn to give a damn about civil rights issues. He seems more annoyed at the leftists pissed at white supremacists then the white supremacists themselves.

You know this is just going to lead to more back alley abortions, right?

Some people want go back to those dark days where some women would die in those back alleys or have serious medical complications...

The whole "back alley" line is like saying we should legalize rape because then it would occur out in the open where the public would eventually intervene, rather than making it illegal so it is done in more concealed places. The problem with this line of argument is that it assumes that the action performed (abortion, rape, etc.) is inherently good or at least unavoidable. I don't believe that abortion is good or unavoidable (in a situation where it is illegal, I believe that everyone is capable of following the law), and the harder it is to get an abortion, the less abortions occur. While I get those who are really adamant will go to the back alley, those who are on the fence, or those who want an abortion but don't feel they want it enough to go through walls of steel (so to speak) to get it, will likely forgo the abortion if their local abortion center closes, and that is where unborn lives are saved.

Yes, let us cheer for reduced funding for cancer screenings and STD treatment. Huzzah indeed.

Community Health Centers do far more of those than Planned Parenthood, and if funding that once went to PP is instead redirected to them (as these defunding bills generally do), they can definitely pick up the extra "labor" from the closing of the local PP. Also, with its recent surge in donations, PP can probably mostly survive w/out government funds anyways. Furthermore, I have no reason to believe PP actually abides by the hyde amendment, and even if it does, receiving funding to help pay for its other services frees up money from private donations to help pay for abortion, thus allowing PP to lower the cost of an abortion and thus make the murderous procedure more avaliable.

Kelli Ward isn't opposed to weekends and like me she hates John McCain and Jeff Flake.

I always said that far right and far left are, essentially, the same (intolerance + bigotry, especially to other views). Now i am even more sure...

Yes because I dont believe in rewarding breaking the law. No matter who it is

So a baby who's born in Guatemala and brought to the United States by their parents is "breaking the law?"
Yes since they dont have the proper documentation, dont have permission to be here, and entered the country illegally. If my parents brought me into idk, say Japan when i was a kid, do i have the right to stay or demand that they allow me to stay?

It's not a question of rights, it's a question of morals.  You have no say where you end up as a child.  A child cannot apply for documentation.  Why should they be penalized because their parents broke the law?  In what other areas of the law do we apply this rationale?
The law requires you to be a US Citizen or have proper documentation if you want to be in this country, if you dont, tough. Under your method, the whole world would be flooding in here with their kids. Bottom line is i believe that we should cater to Americans rather than foreign nationals

It gets worse later in.

SJWs will be the death of the Democratic party I swear. (no I'm not talking about people who simply believe in equal rights). I'm talking about the extreme leftists who will shout you down if you say anything that they disagree with

This is so exaggerated.  The only reason GA-6 was close this last election was because of Trump.  If the GOP had nominated anyone else, he/she would have carried that district by a wide margin, and probably most of the other R-leaning suburban enclaves that swung/trended D.

That said, the GOP has had a big problem with suburban voters since the 90s due to the rise of religious and social conservatives in the party.

If you subscribe to the idea that Trump has accelerated trends already in-progress (of which there is a good argument for), then there is no guarantee GA-6 will go back to where it was before. History is rife with examples of presidents pushing certain regions into the arms of the other party. Usually they just act as a catalyst for existing trends.

The Democrats spent Record amounts of money on Georgia 6 and had a very good candidate and the GOP had a very mediocre candidate and spent about 1/2 as much and still won. Trump was an awful switch for Texas, Virginia, Georgia and Colorado. The fact that Texas and Georgia did not become competitive under these ideal conditions means that they will be Solid Red States for the foreseeable future.

Dems spent about $2 mil more than the GOP in GA-6 when add all the numbers up, not 1/2.

"Trump was a bad fit" is becoming an increasingly leaned on excuse for Republicans on this forum,  it fits their narrative virtually anywhere they want it to.

Well its kind true. Look how well Trump did in the midwest and north east, and look how abysmal he did in the south. 6/11 of the swings against him were in the south (Arizona, Utah, Texas, Georgia, Maryland, and Virginia), while out of the 5 that weren't in the south, 4 were democratic states. I understand demographics and all, but going from an 18 to 9 point victory in Texas is down to many factors.

Calling not only Arizona, but freaking Utah southern states.

It's funny how the people who say that political views shouldn't be a factor in one's opinion of a person are the same people who hate me because of my political views.

Anti-Semitism is not a "political view", it's just disgusting
Racism is also disgusting. So why does everyone suck Santander's and Sanchez's dicks?

Active loathing of white Americans Republicans (to put it lightly) is disgusting.  Is it racism?  If not, why is it justified?
FTFY

In the end of the day, don't you think it's better to respect opposing points of view rather than have contempt for your political adversaries?  Hating your enemies doesn't do you (or anyone else) any good, so what is there to lose by having a more understanding view toward those whose views you see as execrable?  I say this as someone who finds a lot of the moral views of progressives personally troubling - especially on abortion - but I think it's better to respect people even if we have different viewpoints on very consequential issues.

I know we have some pretty big disagreements, but I think you care about others and are fundamentally a decent person.  I think it'd be best for your sake to try to open your mind a bit to different perspectives, as tough as it can be at times.
Republicans, including you are horrible "people".

If you don't favor this, you favor open borders, you favor citizenship on demand.

It's impossible to support any regulation of immigration if you oppose enforcement of those regulations.

That's all this is, basic enforcement.

If you don't want to let every person in Africa move to America, you're going to have to be cool with deporting people, including non-criminals and people who will cry on camera.

If you can't do that, you will end up living in a third world country.

Morty is scum, news at 5.

I don't think Sanchez has ever advocated blowing up school buses full of children.

He's implied approval for some pretty sickening things. He's just smart enough to not be completely audacious.

I think it's pretty absurd to say that Bill Clinton is a bad person. What did he do wrong? Rape a few people? Who cares? Committing crimes doesn't automatically make people bad imo.

Please tell me you're joking.

Evangelical Christianity is the mouthpiece of and ideological medium for the transmission of elitist controlled values and beliefs. It primarily serves to assuage natural human negative reactions to inhumane social conditions and organize people behind a policy agenda that serves particular interests. Critical thought is discouraged, while human capital and energy is directed towards bigotry, nationalism, rallying around capitalism, and directing your frustrations towards non-constructive actions, such as prayer. Meanwhile, megachurch pastors get filthy rich and right-wing special interests are promoted while also cultivating a uniform voting base that works against their own self-interest and focuses on distraction issues.

That Trump received such a large percentage of the Evangelical vote and such a warm welcome should be absolutely unsurprising.

This is a good post dude.

There was a gem here and there in it, but the broader point wins a place in this thread.

It of course commits the common fallacy of assuming that "Evangelical Christianity" is one large easily generalized entity, and kind of reminds me of the idiots on sites like DU and DailyKos who basically believe that virtually all or the vast majority of evangelical Christians believe in things like super-charismatic practices and worship, KJV-onlyism, Dominionism and prosperity theology, the truth is not only do the majority of evangelicals not believe in those things, you'd have a very difficult time finding any who believe in ALL of them.

Things that the post alludes to like prosperity theology and extreme mixing of nationalism in theology are quite fringe even by the standards of conservative evangelicals.

Is this anything more then feeling like your hipster christian church was badmouthed?

They should declare the day this man dies a national holiday.

It would be a glorious day for the Union.

This quote is a prime example of why liberals (like you) aren’t taken seriously.

For what it's worth, you aren't taken very seriously either.

Neither is socialism.

-Not being satisfied with the direction of the GOP over the last year or two AND also not wanting a Kasich-mold party (I want a Cruz/Bevin/Rubio/Walker/Pence-type party).

-The only conspiracy theory I have ever been willing to even consider is the Seth Rich one.  All others are ridiculously stupid.

-Life comes before anything else.  As I have said numerous times, apart from violence, the ends of ending abortion justify the means entirely.

-I believe that marriage is between a man and a woman.

-Marijuana should remain illegal.

-I waffle on the merits of reinstating alcohol prohibition.  I lean towards saying that it would do more harm than good, but drinking should be strongly frowned on by society (and be something that no one would admit to doing in public).

-If alcohol were to disappear, the majority of crime would instantly disappear as well- especially sex crime, which would be virtually eradicated.

-We should repeal the 16th Amendment.  I would replace all taxes with a very low rate consumption tax.

-Social Security, Medicare, Medicade, and all entitlement programs should be gradually phased out.  They are the type of thing that there would be no need for if they didn't exist because people would get themselves out of poverty.

-There should be no minimum wage or licensing requirements at all.  They just harm business.

-People arguing against free trade and immigration are afraid of the free market.  I do support a strong border, but it should be significantly easier to come here legally.

-We need to stop talking about race- it's the only way for the last traces of racism to disappear.

-There is no such thing as "separation of church and state" in the Constitution.  It just means that you can't be forced to follow any religion, but all of our elected officials should act in accordance with their faith- and religious beliefs are a good enough justification for any political stance.

-I also support a PSA campaign to discourage secularism.  It wouldn't be targeted at what religion you follow, as long as it is one that encourages traditional family values.  Secularism is a far greater threat to our society than Islam is.  Society should go back to looking at someone funny if they aren't going to church/another religious service on a Sunday morning.

-Transgenderism isn't real, and there are two genders.  Gender and sex are the same thing, and "gender identity" is completely made up.  I go back and forth on whether or not sex changes should be illegal.  The more pressing problem is that scientists are not looking for a cure to gender dysphoria (and homosexuality, for that matter) out of fear for left-wing PC activists.

-Planned Parenthood is the most racist organization with any influence in society today.

-The left wants to divide us up into "identities" for political goals.  They figure if they can get enough "identities"/demographics to feel like they need protection (and that Democrats are the only ones who can protect them), they can win elections.

-I am completely bored by any talk of Russia and just want it to go away, whatever the outcome is.
