How the hell am I only supposed to pick one?! Ugh

1. France Insoumise
2. Unitary Democratic Coalition
3. Left Bloc
4. French Communist Party
5. Die Linke
6. Izquierda Unida (United Left)
7. Podemos
8. Solidarity – People Before Profit
9. Sinn Fein
10. Italian Left

That's my general feel of the parties and how I would rank them based on their policies, rhetoric, and what role they've had in society. Also, it's not a strict order, but a general idea of what I think of them; all of them are exceptionally great.

The Swiss Party Party of Labour, or as it is known in the only parts of the country where people actually vote for it - the Parti ouvrier et populaire (Popular workers party), and the various other left wing formations: Solidarités;  Ensemble à Gauche (Together on the left) and la Gauche deserve a mention for how hillariously byzantine they are.

They aren't left wing, but they also aren't right wing. They don't even really have a set ideology other than 'anti-establishment populism.'

Woah their youth wing is vomit inducing. Attacking random tourists because the Catalan bourgeoisie mismanaged the boom in the industry? Not OK.

They also have a lot of nativist discourse within their ranks.

I voted Podemos because I like their party structure and grassroots campaigns, but I don't really like their leadership. Especially Pablo Iglesias.

You forgot to include the (still) Pilz(-named) List here. They made it into parliament last month and they are clearly leftist. Currently a bit in trouble because their leader Peter Pilz is accused of sexual misconduct, but the people/representatives in that list are pretty good and competent on their topics.

I think the idea is that this is for "left of the left" rather than mainstream left parties, which would still include Labour notwithstanding their current leadership.

Mostly, I agree with AndrewCA

Swiss Party of Labour - I know nothing about Swiss politics though I'd be interested in learning more; any good resource for beginners?

Key things to remember is that the Swiss far left is basically a phenomena that only exists in French Switzerland. The PdT are a party with a proud history, who trace their origins back to a split from the Socialists when they refused to join the third international back in the 1920s. They used to be the major force on the left in Geneva, but withered away, in part due to factionalism and in part as the Geneva Socialist party moved on to their turf (and general "nationalisation" of Swiss politics).

Nowadays, the PdT are basically a regional interest party for people living in the watchmaking towns in the Jura mountains region of the Canton of Neuchâtel.

Along with their new lefty comrades/worst enemies of "SolidaritéS", they are also basically useful idiots for the right, and have helped mortally wound the Swiss social security system because the proposed reforms didn't want to abolish the private sector or something.

It would also be a rather... er... substantial misreading of the politics of the present leadership. Labour ran on a solid social democratic platform at this year's General Election not SEIZE THE COMMANDING HEIGHTS COMRADES and there has been precisely zero indication that this is likely to change (quite the opposite actually). In a weird and round-about way, Corbynism has turned out to be about the Left finally burying Bennism and moving on with its life.

I think there's a recognition between the SCG/leadership that they needed to adopt social democratic consensus politics to win leadership and arrest this relentless march to neoliberal madness (that is now attacking the very basics of state provision). I don't however think that any have disowned Bennism long-term and are simply willing to return to social democracy before pursuing socialist proposals (the EU in many ways being the defining divide between the soft and hard left, and on that score you'd expect to see more movement if they had been converted).
