Here are the standings after this crazy week, I will note despite all of the insane upsets, every one of them had at least 1 of us picking the upset. I believe the one unanimous game (alabama) was quite clear.

Arkansas State (This is a could be a battle for the Sun Belt, and losing close to Nebraska is better preparation than getting blown out by Texas A&M IMO)

Memphis (Houston fans, Case Keenum is not walking through that door...Memphis wins a close one)

Middle Tennessee (Marshall lost close to NC State...Middle Tennessee beat Syracuse, which beat Clemson. Which looks better to you?)

Colorado State (The Rams have simply played better opposition so far, and have stronger talent...but the Lobos still have games against Texas A&M and San Diego State to go)

Oklahoma (The problem for the Sooners is they need to focus on TCU and Oklahoma State...but they should beat Kansas State)

Texas (The Cowboys are officially knocked out the Big Twelve race with the loss, as chaos ensues)

South Florida (Don't know how Tulane wins this one, honestly)

Georgia Tech (That Triple-Option is really tough to defend...)

LSU (Coming off a huge win over Auburn, LSU should beat a struggling Ole Miss)

Wisconsin (Color me impressed if this one is even close)

Iowa State (If Iowa State can beat Oklahoma, they certainly can beat a much weaker Texas Tech squad)

Iowa (The Hawkeyes remain the favorites to win Big Ten West should Wisconsin stumble)

Army (The Non-Air Force Service Academies have been really good this year)

Louisville (The Seminoles have a really good team, but the way they've been playing, they're not going to stop Lamar Jackson)

Toledo (We could see a rematch of this game in the MAC title game)

Virginia (Both teams have one good win...Louisville for Boston College, Duke for Virginia...but Virginia has more talent on both sides of the ball)

Western Michigan (The Broncos win one of the most underrated rivalries in Michigan sports)

Alabama (This one should be self-explanatory, but just in case...Tennessee has fallen off a cliff... If Butch Jones survives as head coach, I'll be shocked)

Syracuse (If Syracuse can beat Clemson, they can beat a slightly weaker Hurricanes squad)

Michigan State (Indiana really isn't that good)

UCF (Navy is good, but UCF is better)

Illinois (this one is essentially a tossup...I'm picking Illinois on gut instinct alone)

UCLA (Oregon can't stop Josh Rosen, and they're playing at the Rose Bowl...the Ducks aren't winning this one)

Kentucky (Kentucky might yet win the SEC East...though they'll need help from Georgia and Florida)

Florida Atlantic (This could be a rematch in the Conference USA Championship game)

Penn State (Michigan's not going to be able to stop Saqoun Barkley)

USC (I'm not sure how the Fighting Irish think they can stop Sam Darnold)

California (After stunning Wazzu last week, Cal should beat a much weaker Arizona squad...hope the wildfires are dealt with by then)

Boise State (Boise State has lost at home only seven times since 1999...and one of those was a bowl game...so it's really six losses)

San Diego State (The Aztecs are eliminated from a Group of Five New Year's bowl slot after last week's loss, but they should win the Mountain West)

Washington State (Wazzu got the upset out of their system and they have no room for error...too bad they'll probably lose to Washington....)

October 19

Louisiana-Lafayette at Arkansas State

Memphis at Houston

October 20

Marshall at Middle Tennessee

Colorado State at New Mexico - a bit scared after last week's performance, but CoSt should rebound

October 21

Oklahoma at Kansas State

Oklahoma State at Texas

South Florida at Tulane

Wake Forest at Georgia Tech - Homer pick!

LSU at Mississippi

Maryland at Wisconsin

Iowa State at Texas Tech

Iowa at Northwestern - Seems ripe for an upset with NU coming on last week. Genuine uncertainty since that was done against a very injured team and Iowa's losses do look better

Temple at Army

Louisville at Florida State

Akron at Toledo

Boston College at Virginia

Western Michigan at Eastern Michigan - ripe for an upset with a shortened week but WMU in a squeaker. More heartbreak in Ypsilanti.

Tennessee at Alabama

Syracuse at Miami(FL) - I want to, I want to, I want to, but no. Miami by a FG. Cuse is different in the Dome.

Indiana at Michigan State

UCF at Navy

Illinois at Minnesota

Oregon at UCLA - Ugly game! Homer pick.

Kentucky at Mississippi State

North Texas at Florida Atlantic

Michigan at Penn State

USC at Notre Dame

Arizona at California

Wyoming at Boise State

Fresno State at San Diego State

Colorado at Washington State

October 19

Louisiana-Lafayette at Arkansas State - Don't know much about sun belt, picking on standings.

Memphis at Houston - Memphis is looking good but Houston has better potential IMO

October 20

Marshall at Middle Tennessee - Marshall on gut

Colorado State at New Mexico - Should be a close one, going with New Mexico at home.

October 21

Oklahoma at Kansas State - Could be closer than expected

Oklahoma State at Texas - Another close one, I think OK State is hungry for a spot in the Big 12 Championship game, Bedlam may decide which of the Oklahoma's gets into said game

South Florida at Tulane - eh fairly standard pick

Wake Forest at Georgia Tech - Miles between these teams

LSU at Mississippi - Don't expect a blowout but LSU has the momentum

Maryland at Wisconsin - Another one that could be surprisingly close

Iowa State at Texas Tech - Despite the 2 losses, Tech is a very good team.

Iowa at Northwestern - Iowa should win this one fairly easily IMO

Temple at Army - Army continues to roll

Louisville at Florida State - should be close, FSU favored at home though

Akron at Toledo - Picking against Toledo always burns me.

Boston College at Virginia - Virginia just looks like the better team

Western Michigan at Eastern Michigan - All of the Michigan's have let me down at some point.

Tennessee at Alabama - ah this would be a good upset but you know how it is.

Syracuse at Miami(FL)
- If Syracuse happens to win this, they will have single handedly substantially lowered the ACC's playoff hopes and increased the Pac 12's hopes....

Indiana at Michigan State - Michigan State continues with momentum

UCF at Navy - could be a close one

Illinois at Minnesota - lol Illinois lost to Rutgers

Oregon at UCLA - UCLA by a bit

Kentucky at Mississippi State - another close one with Mississippi State winning due to being at home.

North Texas at Florida Atlantic - prove me wrong UNT but I think Kiffin has this one

Michigan at Penn State - again, please prove me wrong

USC at Notre Dame - wow, I hate both of these teams. Notre Dame wins another close one.

Arizona at California - I could see Arizona winning this but I think California can capitalize on their momentum.

Wyoming at Boise State - Boise State has momentum and is at home.

Fresno State at San Diego State - Rebound after a stinging loss

Colorado at Washington State  - again, upset potential but I don't think Wazzu will let it happen at home.

-I think Vegas is wrong on FSU-Louisville. I don't see how this anemic FSU offense manages to score enough to overcome the points Lamar Jackson WILL score. FSU plays too slowly and conservatively to build up the margin we'll need to beat that. The only real hope I have is that FSU's defensive front should massacre Louisville's O-line.

-Anyone watching Alabama-Tennessee (Vegas line of Bama by 36!) instead of UCF-Navy (who isn't from one of those two states) needs to get their head checked.

-Haven't decided whether USC-ND will be an amazing game or an awful one.

I'll just point out for the record that at the point this post was made Marshall had won and the first quarter was underway on CSU-NM. You should definitely still keep his pick on the second game; it could still go either way at this point!
