If objecting to the "otherization" of ethnic Chinese Americans makes me an elitist, I'm not ashamed to be one.

It seems more like you're objecting to assimilation? I consider myself a food snob and will make a distinction between Americanized and "true" ethnic snob, but it's not enough to get upset over.

Of the various Asian cuisines, I guess I've only ever had "true" Japanese food, which I guess is my favorite anyway, even considering Americanized Asian cuisine.

Any culinary tradition that was made in and developed in America is American, full stop. Tex-Mex has Mexican influences, but it is as American as apple pie. Other ethnic/regional American cuisines are also considered fully American, like Cajun or Italian-American cuisine. Why shouldn't Chinese-American cuisine be considered fully American, too?

I'm not a snob - I mean, I often talk about my love for Israeli, Tamil, and Malay food, but I also like McDonalds and Chick-fil-A.

Japanese solely for sushi and sashimi which is heavenly. After that Indian, Thai, and Vietnamese are all fighting it out for second.

Indian is by far the best national cuisine. My death row meal would be a lamb bhuna.

Taste of India on Penn Ave across from the new Children's Hospital in the Lawrenceville neighborhood. I only live 10 minutes from there so we order it to go a lot.  Double the portion size in to go containers.......inexpensive too.  Most $8-12
