Make no mistake about it, the New England Patriots are one of the most successful franchises in the history of sports. Under Tom Brady and Bill Belichick, the team has won 14 AFC East titles, 7 AFC titles, and 5 Super Bowl championships from 2001 to now, 2017. How long will the Patriots dynasty last? 5 more years? 10 years? After QB Tom Brady retires, what is next for the Patriots?

Until Brady enters his decline.  How long that ends up being is anyone's guess, especially since Brady appears to be aging like a fine wine.

Although I think Belichick is a good coach, and the Patriots do a lot of things the "right way," (such as not being utterly clueless in using their draft picks), I think the extent to how much a coach can influence a team is overrated, at least compared to having a superstar QB, which can single-handedly make or break a franchise, particularly in the NFL (compared to college football).

Consider, e.g., the pre-Brady Patriots, at the tail end of Bledsoe's career, which were nothing to write home about.

As an interesting hypothetical, I've often wondered where the Patriots would've ended up and how the franchise would've developed in the 00s had it not been for Bledsoe's injury.

Even though Belichick is usually considered to be a draft genius, he really whiffed in 2016 when he picked QB Jacoby Brissett while Dak Prescott was still on the board.

Imagine one team going from the Brady Era to the Prescott Era...

Hopefully it ends sooner than later. So tired of the Cheatriots winning the AFC East almost every year.

Hopefully they get a few more titles in this run - that would be sweet.

I am curious if Jimmy G would be better for what he can get for the Pats or for the team in terms of an insurance clause. He looked very good in the 2 1/2 games he played last season. Brissett not so much. Is Jimmy G a better potential grad of Eastern Illinois than Tony Romo?

Just one month till the regular season starts up again.

I don't see much more than 3 years with Brady and at this point he could just decide to go out on top if the situation fits with his personal life of selling slippers and playing with his kids.
