I'd rather he run for reelection, see to Democrats winning the Lt Gov office as well, and that way he could challenge Burr in 2022. If he loses, he just continues serving as Governor. If he wins, hopefully a Democrat takes over. Other than that, I say it's better he held the Govs office here and keep a check on the legislature. It's not common that an incumbent Governor is knocked off in North Carolina (Cooper was the first in a long, long time iirc), so the last thing Democrats should want is to give Republicans another shot at winning unified control in NC. There might not be another bathroom bill-type incident to weaken the Republican candidate.
