Hitler/Nazi-salutes are not totally uncommon in Germany and Austria, but if caught in the act these cases are usually leading to a year-long prison sentence and/or a significant fine and parole.

Which is good. Punching someone who does so isn't ... better argue with them, rather than punch them.

Obviously I think berating him and making a huge spectacle out of it would have been more effective.  But I also don't feel too badly that he got beat up.

When I was a kid, we were sometimes making this gesture as a joke between us, because it was "sooo edgy". We'll, we were doing a lot of stupid things which I shall never name.

Doint this as an adult, even ironically, is just imbecilic. Also, good karma.
