Has voted for the electoral vote winner in every election since 1972 except 1980. Curious why this random County in northern Mississippi is such a bellwether

It also voted heavily for Thurmond, Wallace and "unpledged". And the most irritating result is the massive gain in votes for Carter in 1980-
My guess is that the ratio between blacks and white of 42:54 is a perfect proportion to make the county elastic enough for a swing county.
