This is such an amazing timeline. I'm loving every bit of it, and it would be strange to see Beyonce win Texas.

Claire
January 7th, 2018

We've got seven months to destroy this child.

The child the two-term Missouri senator was talking about was, of course, Republican Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley, a man - a boy - twenty-seven years her junior, and, ten months out from the general election, already favored to unseat McCaskill from the Senate.

McCaskill won her 2012 race by helping to fund chronic foot-in-mouther Todd Akin in the Republican primary, then going on to destroy him in the general.

Republicans are dumb, but they aren't stupid. I can't do the same thing this time.

Ideally, one of the Republican no-names would win the nomination, but that wouldn't be possible. It came down to making one man the nominee: Austin Peterson - another child - who ran to be the Libertarian nominee for president in 2016. Ridiculous. Republicans wouldn't turn out for an atheist, let alone one who said he'd support open borders.

Claire discussed any possible choices to go forward with her staff, including having the talk - that come November, their resumes better be polished.

It was approaching midnight, and Claire was all alone in her Columbia office.

Two terms isn't too bad, is it? Especially if the margin's not too big. Better make one last boy sweat, huh?

...

Suddenly, an idea popped into Claire's mind. It was a long-shot, of course, and it could backfire, but it was the last bullet Claire had in her chamber.

...

I'm gonna fund Josh Hawley.

Kelli
January 8th, 2018

With Jeff Flake out of the way, Martha McSally sitting out, and the rest of Arizona's Republican congressional delegation not willing to challenge her, Kelli Ward was on top of her game.

I have just one fat loser left to defeat before I can go beat that lesbian and go to Washington.

That fat loser was disgraced Maricopa County sheriff Joe Arpaio. In a battle between the insane candidates that wish to succeed Jeff Flake, the Arizona GOP had to choose between being shot in the head or being shot in the head.

Ward was endorsed by Steve Bannon, and hoped that the endorsement would help her secure the pro-Trump vote in the state.

Polls showed Kelli Ward and Arpaio nearly neck-and-neck in securing the nomination.

PPP, January 3rd-5th:
Kelli Ward 32%
Joe Arpaio 30%
Don't Know 38%

---

Kelli Ward 24%
Joe Arpaio 21%
Anyone Else 51%
Don't Know 4%

---

Disapprove 71%

This right here is a perfect summary of the AZGOP.
