This timeline is intended to be sometimes absurd, sometimes serious. I guess.

LINCOLN CHAFEE HAS LOST TO BOB DOLE IN A 25-513 EV LANDSLIDE

POLLS OFF BY 21 POINTS; WHAT WENT WRONG???

January 20,2021
Bob Dole was walking to the podium, to address 30 million people in an inauguration speech unparalleled. He was still in shock, as he had never expected to win after the Ecuadorian bribery scandal, but he had several months to prepare for this moment. After all, he had decided to run for president.

He tapped on the microphone and started speaking. "Hello to all of you. I'm a Kansas moderate and I know what I'm doing. You elected me on a platform of creating a greater South Carolina, encompassing the entire United States, and I intend to deliver! With Congress at my side and a mandate of the people, nothing can stop us in our..."

February 17, 2021

PPP- Dole remains broadly popular, with 54% of the American people approving, down from 56% in our previous poll. 32% disapprove, up from 17%. Large numbers of democratic leaners have apparently been alienated by the aggressive manner that Dole has pushed his agenda forwards. While the push to annex the rest of the US into South Carolina is still flying high, with 62% of the public supporting it to 11% disapproving, only 43% support the Social Security privatization push to 55% disapproving. Tax reform is very polarizing, with 48% approving of the republican plan to 47% disapproving.

On the economy, he registers a 59% approval to 27% disapproval. On immigration he...

April 1,2021
Nothing of importance happened on this day, except for the Anti Democrat Demoncrat Regulation of Political Speech Act being signed. There is nothing unconstitutional to see here.

April 28, 2021

The economy is booming, growing at a rate of 3.2%. Tech is growing the strongest, while retail trails the rest of the economy significantly and being the only sector to shrink...

May 9, 2021
Polling shows generic democrat demoncrat trailing by 2 points nationwide, 42 to 40.

Republicans have good news coming out of Virginia today, where...

May 15, 2021
A series of bills have been passed by the senate this week, including the Greater South Carolina Act, the Lower Taxes For Fat Cats Act, and the Throw Seniors off Medicare Act. While a few of these bills are broadly popular, most are polarizing or downright unpopular.

May 22, 2021
BREAKING NEWS: RALPH NORTHAM SHOT AND INJUREDA shocking turn occurred today where democrat demoncrat Ralph Northam has been injured by a far-right extremist. This is likely to galvanize the liberal base, which has been lulled and demoralized by the Pence presidency and Dole's shocking victory. While scandal ridden and trailing in the polls, Virginia was one of the closest states in 2020 and is very liberal.

May 25, 2021
In Congress, the currently pending Greater South Carolina Act has found an opposition figure in the form of John Yarmuth, who has rallied about 20 house democrats and republicans, primarily from the states of North Carolina, Georgia, and Kentucky to publicly state their opposition to the bill. Sources say that the number with private misgivings is far higher, and could be a majority...

May 31, 2021
Democrats have appeared to finally rally in opposition to the president's agenda in full. Greater South Carolina, the headlining item of his agenda, now finds 57% of the country for and 40% of the country against, a steep drop in support from the previous polls. 51% of the nation approves of the president to 44% against.

June 2, 2021
Senator Tillis has had a scandal today, after being heard saying the word "democrat" in private, in violation of Dole's lesser known and little-enforced ADRPSA, signed on April 1st. Democratic Demoncrat Roy Cooper is scrambling to exploit the opportunity to boost his credibility with the democrats. As of now, his presidential prospects hinge on getting a democrat sworn into Tillis' seat.

June 10, 2021
Iowa poll shows Roy Cooper as a modest front runner in the democratic demoncrat primary:
Roy Cooper:27%
Some guy Who will probably be forgotten about before the primary even starts: 21%
Andrew Cuomo:14%
Jeff Merkley: 7%
Undecided:31%

Other people have been reported to be considering a run but weren't included in this poll either due to obscurity or denial that they would run.

Bob Dole: 45%
Generic Democrat: 38%

------

META POLL:
Should Tillis be convicted?:

A: Yes, this would expel him from the senate, and force a special election for his seat in November, potentially making Roy Cooper the prohibitive frontrunner in the democratic primary.

B: No, this would have him stay in the senate, where he'll become a maverick opposed to Dole. Democrats will not forgive Cooper's failure to gain the senate seat, but he could eventually recover. Cooper's chance to become the prohibitive frontrunner is lost.

I'm also thinking of creating a serious election game over on the Election and History Games subforum, also starting in the immediate aftermath of a 2020 election, where people create a character, who acts as a pollster or pundit or politician, and can switch between these roles several times over the course of the timeline. Is there interest for that, or is it oversaturated?

Option A (shameless Dem Hack in NC). Also, why do you have Dole speaking in the first person in his inaugural address? Also, will the Chafee states play any significance?

This seems like a great idea. I would like to join this game.
Also, this is a very entertaining timeline.

A short update to take us through the end of July.

June 17, 2021
With the recent relevance of the ADRPSA, a poll has just come out with startling numbers. Only 19% of the public approves, to 60% who disapprove. It appears that Republicans are now joining democrats demoncrats in opposition to the act. With no base to turn to, the act has cratered in popularity. Bob Dole's approvals are now 39% for and 47% against.

June 21, 2021
Sources within the white house are claiming that Dole is furious at the Tillis affair, and is likely to throw support behind ruling the bill he signed unconstitutional.

June 25, 2021
Tillis has been indicted and will now go to trial for violating the ADRPSA.

July 2, 2021
A shock poll has been released showing generic R trailing generic D in North Carolina by a large margin, 54-31. While most undecideds are republican leaners, this is very bad news for the North Carolina GOP

July 5, 2021
After consistent claims that the GSAA is a slam-dunk to pass, the vote on the bill has been postponed. Whip counts are, according to the Dole administration 135-220(110 democratic no's, 65 democratic yes's, 25 democratic undecided, 155 republican yes, 25 republican no's, 55 republican undecided) which should be enough for a majority. It's been said that the reason the bill took so long between introduction and the original vote date is that members of Congress who privately oppose it are trying to drag it down with the Dole administration.

July 9, 2021
The war of words over the GSAA continues, as the entire Kansas delegation condemns Dole as being opposed to federalism and declared their opposition after being nominally undecided. This brings the official house vote count to 139-219

July 12, 2021
A mixed day for the republican agenda continues as house Republicans appear to have overplayed their hand. On the one hand, the LTFFCA has been passed on a partly line vote 235-200, but the TSOMA has been defeated 220-215.

July 14, 2021
Tillis has been convicted, and sources say that an expulsion is likely to pass at this time.

July 17, 2021
New polls have been released, the Dole administration registers 45% approval to 49% disapproval.
Democratic Primary:
Roy Cooper:57%
Who care: 22%
Undecided: 21%

July 29, 2021
Bob Dole has had his first good day in a long time. He has started a tour of the world, starting with meeting the Mexican president and Canadian Prime Minister. This is a good move for him, as the Dole administration registers a 52% approval rating on foreign policy.

August 2, 2021
Some sources claim that Phil Scott, Governor of Vermont, is likely to announce a senate run soon. He is modestly popular, at 48% approval to 31% disapproval, and Patrick Leahy has stated his desire to retire.

August 13, 2021
Breaking news: Protesters have stormed the KremlinIn an unexpected turn, the Russian government seems likely to fall at this hour, as protests all over Russia, both peaceful and violent, have brought the country to a halt. We'll be keeping track of this story in the coming days.
