Is de Leon still a go too?

Hopefully the gubernatorial and senate races are DvD to lower Republican turnout in swing districts.

I'm pretty sure he is running for Lieutenant Governor, we confirmed this a while ago. His own site says he is running for the office:

Feinstein must be trying to break Strom Thurmond’s record for the oldest Senator. For that to happen, she’ll have to serve until July 23, 2033 to beat his record by one day. That means 3 more re-election campaigns and 41 years in office.

I doubt she lives much longer than 2024, if to even that.

“She was totally out of touch when the whole debate happened on encryption,’’ that occurred between Apple and law enforcement officials in the wake of the San Bernardino terrorist massacre, he said. “She didn’t even understand some of those issues." "She hasn’t been a strong advocate on privacy, she hasn’t been strong on civil liberties, she hasn’t been strong in terms of standing up to our foreign policy interventions around the world,’’ he said, describing her views as “hawkish.”“And most recently, she has not embraced a move toward 'Medicare for All,’ and bold economic policies,’’ he said.

Khanna, 41, who defeated eight-term Rep. Mike Honda, 75, to win the Silicon Valley seat last year, said he is not interested in running for the Senate seat himself. “I love my job, I really do, and I hope I’ll be re-elected to it,’’ he said, but, “I do hope other progressive voices will look at it.’’

“I asked (Rep.) Barbara Lee to run,’’ he said, of the East Bay representative considered one of the House’s most liberal members. He said he has contacted Reich, the former Clinton Cabinet member who has a presence as a regular media commentator and as a University of California-Berkeley professor, but “I don’t think he’s necessarily interested,’’ Khanna said. But “there are other voices in our state who are far more in touch with the values” of the progressive grassroots than Feinstein, he argued. While fundraising could be a challenge, he said, both of them “could catch fire nationally,’’ and generate plenty of money online from the progressive base.

There are so much deadwood that needs to be primaried, but wartime profiteer Bush tax cut voting for Dianne Feinstein from supposedly liberal California really takes the cake.

Feinstein would annihilate Khanna, and I don't even care for either of them.

Seriously Khanna's turn toward the Justice Dems has got to be the most craven, transparently cynical thing I've seen in a loooong time

Would DeLeon be acceptably left enough for you?

Khanna is about as progressive as Tulsi Gabbard. In a perfect world, he'd be swept out with Feinstein.

I don't know enough about him. And maybe I'd end up holding my nose to vote for him in the 2nd round of voting.

Oh come on, Eric Garcetti or Kevin de Leon should challenge her. After 26 years and at the age of 85, it's enough for Feinstein. CA Dems are blessed with better candidates.

I'll endorse either De Leon or Garcetti against Feinstein, they'd be credible challengers.

It's time to rid the senate of Feinstein, hopefully along with Hatch.

Honestly, if I were a California voter, I'd support a moderate Republican (The Terminator or Neel Kashkari for example) over Feinstein, if they would make it to November. However, I hope a credible Democrat challenges her.

Steyer considering. Personally I hope she gets to smash a Dem challenger.

Who would be the strongest candidate to replace Feinstein if she retired? Garcetti? Beccerra? Adam Schiff?

I'm willing to say if Feinstein changes her mind about 2018 then Chiang would drop out of the governor's race he's most likely to lose and make a run for Senate instead

These are just (very surprising) rumors I’m hearing, but some CA Dem people I know actually think that Villaraigosa is going to be the odd one out.

I'm in total agreement here. California needs a fresh face in the Senate, preferably one left enough to accurately represent the state.
