Why are you making us pick between two options? You're the real extremist here.

Some are option 1, some option 2. And there are many types of centrists.

More than any other, "centrist" is a label that people make up that doesn't mean anything

It depends.

Centrists like Ileana Ros Lehtinen, Frank Wolf, Mark Kirk, Shelley Moore-Capito, Carlos Curbelo, Susan Collins, Evan Bayh, Mary Landrieu and Joe Lieberman are massive FFs.

Moderates like Lisa Murkowski, Ben Nelson (NE), Collin Powell, Jon Tester, Bart Stupak are all awful and are massive HPs.

People who will bend and sway to whichever way the winds are blowing. They're indecisive, incapable of making up their minds, have few to no principles, lack a coherent ideology, and always act as if they're superior to everyone else.

I "lack a coherent ideology"? That's news to me. On what issues do I have "few to no principles" or am I "indecisive"?

Centrism is a vague term. It could mean right wing on social issues and left wing on the economy or vice versa or someone who is neither right wing or left wing on both and then you have the people who don't really stand for anything who want to virtue signal about how much better they are than those stupid partisans.

Most centrist American politicians though, like Kasich, I have little respect for. They tend to represent the worst aspects of both parties.

It's funny you say that because I actually consider myself a radical centrist. Although, this thread talks in an American context where I am considered far left.

A lot of centrists are actually pretty extreme. They are not spineless when serving their corporate masters.

That is true. Having a spine is a great asset when leaning down to kiss the feet of your local evil corporate mastermind.

There is no party or movement in Britain that represents my views adequately.

I tend to prefer Labour on the basis that they are better than the Conservatives generally and their policies are in my economic interests at the very least. Although, this years election, it was alot closer as Corbyn is too far to the left on both social and economic issues and May did shift a little leftwards on economics so I voted based on local candidates (Labour because I don't like my Conservative MP).

If you are wondering about my Blue Labour banner, it is because I want Labour to go to the right on issues like immigration and to abandon big central government in favour of the stronger local government.

So, I the centrists I like are almost always hawkish. All of the people I've listed are relatively hawkish and all of them are Pro-Israel. Ros Lehtinen, Wolf and Curbelo are Pro-Life which is a big plus.

Ros Lehtinen and Curbelo are strong hawks on latin american foreign affairs issues.

Wolf is a well respected human rights leader, who served in a leadership capacity with the bipartisan Lantos Human Rights Commission.

Susan Collins, imo, has been a solid GOP Senator who votes with us when she can. She leans hawkish, which is also a plus.

Shelley Moore-Capito is Pro-Israel, Pro-Coal and is pretty solid on most economic issues and is pretty pro-free trade for a WV politician. She's also a much needed pragmatic voice in the Senate.

Bayh and Landrieu are conservadems on economic and/or energy issues. Lieberman plus those two opposed the Iran Deal. And are also very Pro-Israel.

Now, moving on to those I dislike:

1. Colin Powell's endorsement of Obama (x2) irritated me. I also don't really think he's a republican on anything of importance and is essentially a democrat.
2. Ben Nelson always seemed pretty slimy to me and I didn't like his Cornhusker Kickback deal on Obamacare.
3. Bart Stupak betrayed Pro-Lifers on both sides by helping Obama lie to people on not funding abortion through Obamacare.
4. Lisa Murkowski is annoying and, imo, corrupt. Her "tough moderate" persona is fake and self-righteous.
5. Jon Tester is a soft liberal at best. I'm not a fan of his fake centrist persona.

Tester isn't a centrist, and the people saying that he is are quite disingenuous. He is, as you said, a "soft liberal".

As for my opinion on centrists...FF if they're true independents (in the Kingpoleon fashion) or Republicans. Massive, massive HP if they're Democrats.
