Chuck Norris, the actor and star of the tv show Walker, Texas Ranger has never been shy of sharing his politicial views. He was and still is a REAL conservative, economically and socially. But he never wanted to serve in public office. But in 2006, he was starting to reconsider as he disapporved of the job that Rick Perry was doing as Governor of Texas. So on a scheduled apperance of the Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn, he made a big announcment.

Kilborn: So, What is your big announcement?

Norris: Well, i am concerned for the people of Texas. So i am announcing that i am running for Governor of Texas

[Crowd cheers and applauds]

Kilborn: Wow!!!

Actor Chuck Norris upsets Gov. Perry for Republican nomination of Governor

The next day, the media was all over the story, while the news frenzy was going on, Chuck Norris started campaigning for the Republican nomination. While Chuck Norris agreed with Governor Perry on a lot of issues, he took an exception towards his redistricting battle with the Texas Senate and Congress in 2003, he agreed with the media when they said it was power grab by the Governor. Chuck Norris called Perry "power hungry", Because of his celebrity status many Texas GOP members started to abandon Perry for Norris and even some Democrats joined him, due to the sympathy that he gave the party.

On March 7, 2006, the primary results were in.

Chuck Norris was now the Republican nomiee for Governor of Texas
