https://www.cnbc.com/2017/09/12/democrat-marc-lasry-we-need-a-message-beyond-anybody-but-trump.html

It's important to note Marc Lasry is associated with Avenue Capital, which has given money in the past to the following speculative 2020 candidates -

- Jason Kander
- Russ Feingold
- Richard Blumenthal
- Ron Wyden
- Tim Kaine
- Tammy Duckworth

Do you think any of those names are major, likely candidates? If so, would you support any?

Kander isn't important enough, Wyden isn't magnetic enough, and Blumenthal isn't famous enough.

Does this mean??

Good. Hopefully big money intellectuals can keep the populist demagogues away from controlling the Party.

No.

He's probably taken calls from Gillibrand, Harris, and Booker.

Kaine really disappointed me with his performance in the VP debate. I don't think he has the chops to be a good presidential candidate.

Kaine really disappointed me with his performance in the VP debate. I don't think he has the chops to be a good presidential candidate.

At the time of the debate, however, folks here were going on and on about how Kaine trounced Pence, etc.

Kaine came off as a VICE President, doing Hillary's dirty work, pestering Pence about Trump's tax returns.  It seemed a bit much; Kaine, ever the eager beaver, trying to be discreetly snarky.  He didn't hurt, but he didn't really help much, either.

Despite this, I think Kaine wouldn't be the worst candidate in 2020, and he COULD beat Trump.  Kaine projects competence, and he is a guy who has both executive (VA Gov, DNC Chair) and legislative (Senator from VA) experience.  When I look at the names of Democrats thrown around as possible candidates for 2020, Kaine stand heads and tails over most of them.  Some of the names are total jokes, and I can't see how serious people could be floating these names.

I'll give credit where it is due. His response on abortion and his faith was masterful.

Kaine won't run, but he wouldn't be the worst choice.
